Im thinking of buying the asus w3j (in the uk) the only things i am concerned about are the ram and hdd.
As standard there is 1gb of ram and a 4700rpm hdd
how much difference in gaming would there be with a 7200rpm hdd or 2gb ram.
Which would make the most difference?
Im asking this because the upgrade prices are very expensive in the uk and i coulnd't upgrade on my own

    Thanks for any help

Ok, well I think you mean 4200rpm... because notebook hard drives only come in 4200, 5400 or 7200rpm.... 4200rpm is slow, especially for a notebook of that caliber which is really designed for hardcore users.

More ram is only going to show if you already need more than 1gb..... if you're not coming close to using 1gb, then going with 2gb isn't going to yield any difference for you.... but it won't hurt.

The hard drive is the BIGGEST way to upgrade your computer and a 7200rpm is going to do a lot for you in anything were read and write speeds are important...... which is just about anything besides internet, email, word type use.... for the most part.

thx, is it worth getting 2gb for games such as CS:S and bf2? will the ram bottleneck the gfx?

from what i've heard..source is more cpu limited than anything else..either way the w3j's 1gb is plenty if anything upgrade to 7200 for better load times
