Hey all,
I'm stuck between these two notebooks. What would y'all choose? Although the F3SV is more future-proof, I'm leaning more towards the build quality of the W3J. Excaliberpc.com has the F3SV-A1 for $1300 + free 1 GB memory. Newegg has W3J for $999 (then I would purchase another 1 GB memory).
I'm currently going to medical school and need something to get me through the next 4 years. I would like some gaming like HL2 but don't expect to game too much because I'll be busy. I most likely won't have time to get into newer games, but who knows.
I also need to upgrade my desktop within the next 3-4 years, which could handle the future-technology aspect of these computers.
Looking for opinions and help. I appreciate all of the advice. Great forum!!!

If you won't be gaming much and know that you are going to get a new desktop, with which you can play games, then get the W3j, it is a much better investment that way. If you don't want to get that desktop, and think you will play games, the F3SV will be a better investment.

The W3J at newegg is out of stock.....So it doesn't really matter. It won't come back in stock either, since the W3 is an EoL model.
And the prices for a 1GB stick of RAM are roughly $30, not $100.
If the newegg W3J was to come back in stock, I would be first in line. -
Ask me how many games are on my W3J, which is in for RMA btw.
Zero.
2nd year is no joke. Congratulations on getting in. -
yep... noticed that newegg actually had it out of stock. too bad....

This store in my city www.memoryexpress.com has the W3J in stock, and has had it in stock for a long time. I think they're pretty eager to get rid of them. You might be able to order one.

W3J would be my choice. Excellent Build quality, powerful and portable.

Geared2play.com Company Representative
most reliable ensemble to date. Also one of the first models that grew asus popularity around these parts. Really no inherent issues other then an array of software issues which are all fixed now by reading this and other forum

Ouch there price is insane, newegg sold them for less than $1000. -
W3J will have no issues with older games like Half Life 2.
Other than it running a bit warm, there are zero issues with that type of notebook. I recommend it in 2007 as I did in 2006It will last longer than the F3S.

Yea... since the w3j isn't available for $999 at newegg.com then I'm going to most likely get the F3SV. Unless the F8SV comes out this week
, which I doubt.
W3j is nice but too expensive at $1599 for me. It seems like a real nice notebook though.
The only issues I have with the F3SV are battery life, weight, and plastics build. But trying to keep my budget around $1000 doesn't give me many options in all 3 of those regards.
Thanks for the advice y'all! I greatly appreciate it!
