I own an Asus W5a that has an Intel Pentium M Processor. It a 1.73 Ghz unit and i was wondering if anyone here knows if i can upgrade it to another processor. I was thinking of going with the 2.26 Ghz unit model number 780, Its of the same gen and operates at the same voltage.

Also has does anyone know if theirs away to get it to run more then 768Mb of ram?

The machine has been really good to me and its weight and size make it perfect for travel, so i'd like to keep it rather then self it and buy new.

You should be able to throw in a PM 780 (2.26ghz) I would do I bios update, as for ram, when I had a W5a I put a 1gb stick of ram in it for a total of 1.5 I see no reason why a 2gb stick shouldn't work

The W5A has an on-board (soldered) 256mb ram and only one slot available to upgrade. From the official Asus spec sheet, it does say it's max ram is 768mb. Not sure if the 780 CPU would work, but I'd stick with 770 (2.1ghz) just to be safe since it's officially supported.

Try throwing in a 1024MB stick of RAM just in case, to see if 1.25GB actually works.

When they said 1.5GB max on the W7J, it turned out that the 2048 in the second slot actually functioned, so that did end up supporting 2.5GB memory. Something similar might be the case with the W5A.
