    Huy guys,

Its ben a while since posting here but after nearly 2 years of being productive with my W5 I've come across my first problem.

The main 6 cell battery seems to no longer charge past 43% and the battery wear has been at 10% for some months now. I've ran the calibration from the bios with no efect.

The smaller 3 cell battery charges to 100% without issue so I suspect that charger is fine (also used another identical charger to confirm this) and also believe that the latop is not at fault as the 3 cell works and charges fine.

Is this a common experience when a battery 'dies'? This is my 6th Asus laptop and none of my others have ever had a similar thing hapen, its almost like 3 of the 6 battery cells have stopped working as the capacity was fine the one day and then gone the next.

I don't know much about laptop batteries in particular, but most rechargable batteries go out with a fizzle.

I'm sure you've heard of people with cell phones that can't hold charge for more than a few hours.

Yeah but this was working one day fine and then not the next [yeah I know we can use the flat car tyre analogy here]

I've just tried cleaning the battery contacts and also the contacts of the latop but no luck there. I wasnt expecting any myricles as the 3 cell battery has the same number of contacts.

damn, a new battery costs a lot here in New Zealand.

This does indeed sound like the battery is dying. After 2 years it can do that especially if you've used it intensively.

Have a look at the ASUS Info Booth, question 9 for some options on where to search for batteries.
