stays at 35% charge.
If I take the battery out, the charger runs the notebook.
With the battery in place, it does not indicate that it is plugged in but does show the charge at 35% and not charging.
If I go into bios for calibration with the battery in place, it asks for the powersupply to be plugged in.
Brand new battery from laptop-battery-shop and original charger.
BTW, Asus took down there notebook forum at there website.

I would return the battery for a refund and buy an OEM one direct from Asus. There's just too many uncertainties pertaining to after-market laptop batteries such that it's not worth risk for using them despite their low cost.

i would not get this battery anywhere. the shelf life on the original is too long. the quality of aftermarket battery leaves too much to be desired. i would take the dead battery and send it to batteryrefill.com. i had a few good experiences with them long ago. at the end of the day this is just too old to replace the battery. the best option is to "recell" it

Aftermarket batteries are hit and miss. Generally if you get them on ebay, they're mislabeled, too - different kwh rating if you check it with a program, compared to what is "listed" (stickered) on the battery.

i had ordered about half a dozen batteries on ebay for laptops (all different ones) and only one actually worked longer then a few weeks. maybe i was unlucky. ultimately i sent the batteries to batteryrefill.com

Ok, picked up an OEM Asus from ASI. Cost allot more and same problem
If I go to Asus bios calibration with either battery; it keeps on telling me to plug in the power supply and will not proceed.
Can run the notebook with the powersupply. -
New battery ( second one with an initial charge of 44% ) as soon as I plug in my AC adaptor it does not switch to AC at all and the battery starts to drain. If I take out the battery, then it works on AC. Any ideas ? It's not the powersupply or the battery.

Looks to me that the circuitry that manages battery charging and battery <-> AC switch-over is screwed.
The only remaining option is to replace the motherboard and re-try. I am sure this is mostly infeasible.

try:
Control Panel > Device Manager > Batteries
expand the tree, find Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, right click, uninstall. then, go to Action > Scan for hardware changes. the ACPI should return, then go check your battery and see if it is charging. -
