    Asus W7J likely to be updated?

    Hi

    In my continuing search for a lightweight, high spec 13.3" notebook that isnt a Vaio SZ, I like the look of the Asus W7J.

    However, it maxes out at 1536Mb RAM.

    Anyone know if Asus have released any news on continuing this line of notebooks and beefing up the RAM a little?

    there is an upcoming model called the z37s a 13.3 inch with nvidia 8400

    ah yes, I saw this thread earlier, although the specs for the z37s seem to have disappeared.

    I guess this will be at least another couple of months in the making??

    yes all the santa rosa models seem to be gone from anantechs site

    I wish i could remember the cpu number now that i think of it.

    It didnt actually say whether it had the same 1.5 gb max anywhere

    thats um april/may

    intel 965 chipset nvidia 8400 e sata interface.

    The RAM is dictated by the small form factor of the W7 -- they had to solder one chip onto the MB to get it all to fit inside....there was no room for 2 RAM slots.

    On the new product/refresh issue, see my post from yesterday here as well as the followup from PROPortable on when to expect these. Nothing major from Asus is coming until later in the Spring/early Summer.

    Ah well, looks like there's going to be no competition for the SZ3 for some time to come. It's not so easy to find one with a Finnish keyboard tho :)
