    Hi everyone

i just recently bought an Asus W7S and after 3 weeks of uses i found a dead pixel so i send it back to the technical support in Ontario, Canada (i live in Vancouver, Canada) to replace a new LCD panel for it, and i just got it back few days ago. Everything seems to work ok until i found that when i lower my BRIGHTNESS level to less then 50% the screen start to slowly flicker until i bring it down to almost 20% brightness i think is the max...it flickers a lot...this problem had NOT occur to me before, so i am not sure what to do about it beside sending it back to technical support again...in my assumption since i did some research on this...i believe the technican who help me fix my LCD panel did not assemble the LCD to the motherboard properly or they did a very sloppy job doing so, i believe the inverter is causing the problem here. When i plug this machine to another LCD panel, and lowering the brightness, the LCD didnt flicker instead only my W7S's screen does, so i can anyone help me confirm this or give me some idea of what is going on and tell me if the tehnical support is reliable or not? NOTE: the asus technical support are very efficient i have to say, i send my laptop back on Tuesday and i got it back on Friday. So i give credit for their fast service but i am really not sure about their reliability.

I've seen that before, if the LCD screen flicker then you've got a bad invertor board.

No you don't need to replace the panel, you just need a new invertor board. invertor board is the part that controls the screen brightness and if it's defective your screen will flicker.

This issue has been around since the original w7j. At that time the inverter was not suspect. The issue happen when you lower the brightness while on ac only but not on battery. Is this the same for you.? If so i think what happen is that possibly they replaced the lcd for an old one that shipped with the original w7j or even the old inverter which as ken said possibly causes this .

ok ya i what happened was the flickering only happen during the BRIGHTNESS changed regardless on battery or AC power. AND it only happens during LOW brightness which means under 50% or setting 8 so i am not sure what is going on. And i am not sure how to tell the technical support person for this not to happen again because this will be my 2nd time i send it back with in a month so ya please HELP!!!!
