Hello Asus section, it's been a while since i've been on the forums and it good to see some familiar faces still keeping up with good advice. Now if you owner's of the Asus W90 could tell how the notebook is to you and what specs are the best it would be much appreciated. The reason for this is because i mostly picking it up in 3 months so input now would help me with my decision. Thanks for taking the time to read![]()

Well you could spend 4 grand on an equally equipped toshiba.... Good place to visit is the owners forum where w90 owners tend to browse more often then elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice and now i after i got my 1st asus notebook i will not buy any other because spec are awesome price is cheap and i have reseller license for all asus products through ASI here in Toronto.

As an owner of a w90vp, its the best laptop out there. I wouldnt think of any other notebook and for the price you get blue-ray and dual 4870. Which is better then the geforce 280m which are relabeled 9800m's o/c'ed and more shaders.

The fact that they have more shaders goes to prove that the 280M is NOT a relabled 9800M, and the performance definitly speaks for itself. The 260M outperforms the 9800M's and the 280 is a step beyond.
100 series = relabels for the lose, 200 is finally a real improvement. Dont think we will see anything good until the DX 11 300 series Q1 2010 but ATi already has the jump on DX11 cards anyways so their be out in front. -
Yes, but the w90 has user upgradable video cards. We might be able to upgrade to a directx 11 card....i can only hope.

The W90 is the cheapest and greatest high performance laptop out there.
Only the M98 & M17X come close in performance (and I guess there is a Toshiba out there) but all of them cost considerably more, and for looks the W90 trumps both the Sager/Clevo & Dellieanware IMO. I dont know what the Toshiba looks like.
It had a rough start but I think everybody with a new unit is problem free, including myself. -

Looks a little bit like this trying to find it, saw it a month ago on toshibas website this is a lesser variant that costs only 2 grand.
EDIT - http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?poid=424965 I thought there was a 4870x2 model this is a QX9300 With DUal 9800M GTS SLi. A hefty 4 grand plus. -
I find the Toshiba Qosmio X305 a real eye-soar.
The W90 is a far better choice in terms of power, appearance, features and warranty. -

I really am thinking about picking up a qosmio(no kidding) but not for right now, its also a good deal im thinking about getting it and painting it black. Apparently these notebooks have good cooling.
Toshiba may update the Qosmio this year as well so maybe by the time im ready the new will be out. -

Not a big fan of the screen bezel ether. What can I say its hard to beat the W90 Asus did a great job on this one. I didnt even have to "get used to it" or think about it, from the moment I saw it, it had all the looks, specs, and price I wanted. -
In terms of price/what you are getting, it's a phenomenal purchase. But, as we see on the boards, it does take some effort to get the most out of the system.
Nonetheless, after witnessing and studying the W90, I think it is a truly powerful system and could be tweaked to be the most powerful notebook period. Even though the GPUs are lacking in memory compared to the likes of the GTX 280M and the 9800M GTX, the W90 makes up for it with the desktop based X38 chipset, which can handle FSB overclocking very well due to the design of the northbridge. The X38's northbridge can apparently handle around 500mhz, which may be a bit above mainstream in the desktop overclocking world, but this is in a notebook. So it's no surprise that one guy got a QX9300 in a W90 to operate with the FSB at 416mhz.
Hopefully I get to keep my current system if I survive this financial wave that's about to hit me. But I wouldn't mind tampering with a used or open box W90 once everything is settled however before considering my next long-time purchase. -

I was excited about the W90Vn...but I checked the site and I guess they scrapped the V and Vn and only have the Vp.
I don't want an ATI card...I was hoping for an NVidia setup. -
thanks and wonder if they will refresh over the summer, but now im definitely getting this to replace my asus m50 because im using that one for the road to replace my stupid tablet.
