    Hello,

I am considering buying an Asus W90 laptop like this one. Does anyone know what retailer offers the best price on the W90 laptop? I've tried using price comparison sites on internet but they never list the W90 for some reason.

If you buy a laptop from a retailer and something is wrong with it, do you send it back to the retailer or to Asus for repairs?

    Hello,

I'm pretty sure ASUS is no longer making this W90.
That could explain why you find no price.

    @+ ;)

It was a limited time offer :D

You can still find some second hand though, I think we have 1 or 2 here in the for sale section.

I love mine it seems to be problem free but I did have to send my first one back for a semi common gpu issue.

But if its an A1 it comes with the 2yr warranty so you can send it back for free if you needed repair, the X1 comes from best buy and that may be risky. I think only 1 yr warranty.

Hehe yeah that would explain why it's been difficult finding one. Did they replace the W90 with some other model that offers similar bang for the buck?

Only the ones with the Core Duo CPU unfortunately, I would like the one with quad core.

Is the difference between the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz and Core 2 Quad Q9000 2 GHz noticeable? Would it have a noticeable negative impact on gaming (including CPU intensive games) to have the Core 2 Duo instead of the Core 2 Quad?

Some of the cutting edge contemporary games out now are optimized to take advantage of 2 cores, but I'm not sure which (if any) have been coded by their publishers for quad optimization since that market is very small and not necessarily worth spending the resources on. So the short answer is probably no, not that you'd notice outside of benchmarks.

Compiling, video encoding, that's a different story.
