I purchased both an Asus G1 and the Warranty Extension Package (WEP) at the same time on Jan 3, 2007. I received the G1 a week later on Jan. 10. However, the WEP was backordered, and I only received it today, Jan. 18.

I find the WEP documentation contradictory (or confusing, at least), due to the two following passages:

"Please make sure to register and activate you Warranty Extension Package within one week of you WEP purchase date..."

    Then later it says:

"If the online registration and activation of your warranty extension is not completed during the first 90 days of your Asus Notebook purchase, your warranty extension package will expire and you will not be able to benefit from your newly purchased warranty extension package."

So.... which is it? I had no chance to activate within a week of the purchase date as I didn't have the notebook or the WEP. Furthermore, I may end up RMAing the notebook, and so I may have to wait until I receive it, or another G1 which will have a different product number, back from the retailer.

What is the real deadline for activating the WEP? Could I be refused my extended warranty since it was not activated within a week?

Ah, yes... I knew there would eventually be an issue with that. You need to buy the warranty within 90 days of the notebook purchase, but you need to register the warranty within 7 or 10 days of buying the warranty. I don't think it's going to be a problem because when you fill out the warranty information, I don't think you need it. However, if the warranty package was backordered, it shouldn't have charged, or at least it should show up on your bill with a different ship day. Contact Asus first and see if it will even be an issue (I personally don't think it will be). However, if it is, ask your dealer for another invoice based on the shipping date of the warranty package.

What would be the best (and quickest) way of contacting ASUS?

I think would be the fastest: 1-510-739-3777; ext 5110

They have an 800 number that should be in your documentation, I just don't know that off the top of my head.
