Asus Wireless Problem

Hello

I have been using wireless connection for my Asus W2 laptop with no problems for 3 months now.

But today I encountered my first one. When started the laptop I launched the wireless Intel Pro. The connection is established and the connection signal is labeled as "Exellent" but the "Wireless Connection Status" keeps saying " Limited or no Connection...."

Before this problem appeared, I just switch on the Wireless and the Connection is established immediately....

On the details it says "Invalid IP address"
It is set to automatically assign an Ip address on the settings....

Could anyone help me to identify whats the solution to the problem please...?

Power cycle your modem - turn it off - unplug from wall...give it 2 mins.

 

this is likely a network issue. sometimes multiple computers get assigned the same IP address and it results in conflicts.

go to the command prompt and type "ipconfig /release" and after a bunch of zeroes type "ipconfig /renew". if you acquire a valid address then you should be good to go.

My connection does that once every week or so.

 

Nah I say rip out the cord and thrust it back in after a few seconds.

 

for those that are truely affraid of dos, you can right click on the network icon in your task box, and select repair and it'll do the same thing as ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.

 

I have this problem with the wireless at work sometimes, even though I can't 'rip out' the cord at work, I seem to just turn my wireless off on my notebook, reboot and turn it back on again and just wait. It seems to fix the problem, well for me anyway. Hope that helped.

Yeah sometimes a reboot seems to be the only way. Thing is, most of these problems are with Intel cards right?

 

I had the same problem as Bwen on my old HP Laptop, running an original centrino setup with the intel wireless card. My new V6j running the intel card has had no trouble connecting to any wireless network in 2 weeks, so lets hope the cards are getting better.

 

Thats exactly what i do. i see this issue once on a blue moon and the repair always works.
