Most have been discussed in previous threads, but for those interested, here's the entire notebook chapter from this issue's magazine.

Wow......so its basically confirmed:
The G60 is exactly the same as a G51 except it has a bigger screen and thus a smaller bezel. -
Stunningly light, powerfully beautiful is used to describe (Kinda) half the laptops. But still very nice.
-
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
They show all those CPU's on the G71/51 I guess they are refering to customization from resellers because they only have 2 CPU as default configs in the G71? The G60 Look cool but why asus lol?
-
Man, the first two notebooks with the new G210m and they couple it with a ULV processor. Both 14 and 15-inch notebooks too. sigh
Looks like the entire range is going 16:9. -
Someone ring up a UL80V for me. If that comes in under $1k with the SU9400 I'll be all over it.
-
I am so happy to see some aluminum casing laptops =) I just got my mom the K70IO those LED screens are really nice.
-

I guess prospective G5x buyers can just move up to the G60 to take advantage of the larger screen. I was wondering why the G51 had such a wide bezel.
-
^yea and hopefully it has better cooling...i wish i couldve gotten a deal on a G60 for 1244 with all the features of my A1...
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I think you have the best deal on a G51 in this forum right now. Even I couldn't get anything close to your specs for $1,200.
-
Well glad I purchased my G51 now rather than later. The 0.4" increase in screen size in the G60 would hardly be noticeable.
-
Interesting -- just because the models are in the magazine, does that necessarily mean they will be available in the US?
There is a U20A and a UL20A in the 12" size:
The U20A has the
back-lit keyboard and touchpad
DVD drive
1.3MP camera but weighs
1.9kg (4.18lbs) with a 6 cell battery.
The UL20A
no back-lighting on the keys and pad
no optical drive
0.3MP camera
1.5kg (3.3lbs) with a 6 cell battery.
UX30 and a UL30A in the 13.3":
The UX30 has
no optical drive
1.3MP cameraand weighs
1.5kg (3.3lbs) but the specs only list a
3 cell battery.
The UL30A has
no optical drive, a
0.3MP camera, and
weighs 1.7kg (3.74lbs) with the 8 cell battery.
Well writing this out has helped me clear up the confusion for myself at least.
I'm also looking at the Acer 3810. -
Finally some aluminum! With the new G210 gfx as well...but wait, why ULV? Its too bad. I still might invest in one of those, depending on the new Alienware offering. I hope GenTech etc.. tells us when some of those will be available for purchase.

Wow, i never even noticed the N61 before!
That looks pretty darn awesome. A quad core and DDR3 ram, sweet -

The UX50 and U80 models look sexy.
Too bad the U80v looks like it died. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Lol, well we have the U81 now
-

I'm not a fan of Intel IGPs, though. A Radeon 3200 at the very least.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hm, these days with the ATI 4200 i think the 3200's days may be numbered
-
The N61 looks really nice wonder what it will cost tho and when it gets out some of these laptops i have seen for sale already.
-
Nice notebooks but did they forget there are ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850/HD 4870 GPU's out there? Why don't they put those gemstones in more of their notebooks.
-
-
I really hope they aren't crippling the resolution on as many of these as it appears.

One other item of note - in the press release for the n61 they also announced the n71. The same machine with a 17.4" screen. If they manage to package it well, that could be a really sweet device. I consider asus the company most likely to be able to put out a machine that competes with the design asthetic of the 17" MacBook Pro. I have hight hopes for these machines. -
Damn I didn't know the 16 inch would only be 1366 x 768. The 17 inch shows as 1600 x 900. Then i will prefer that one. Hope they have a nice aluminum design for it. Hopefully SSD will drop in price fast so that will get standard in laptops
-
AAHHH, These systems look great!
But why do they have to leave them with such nasty resolutions? As a baseline, it is a good resolution to start at (especially for the masses who could care less). But I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't stand this resolution and would love something more...especially without all the flashy lights or being the the size of an aircraft carrier. Not everyone who wants a good screen is a hard core, bleeding edge, gamer but still have a need/want for more screen real estate while on the go...
OP...thanks for the great post...gotta love some good eye candy!!! -
You are dead on, Rifter. *SOMEBODY* in the Windows space needs to make a 16 - 17" laptop with a right resolution screen (1920x1200 is too high for a 15.4", for me), backlit keyboard, decent processor, and quality, professional, durable design at an inch thick or so. Apple can't be the only company capable of such a manufacturing feat! There is a market for a no-compromise Windows laptop.

Hi all!
I just visit this forum. Happy to get acquainted with you. Thanks. -
