hey everyone happy new year i recently got the Asus Vivobook X202e from Adorama.com and ever since i switched to an SSD and fresh installed with all the drivers in the Asus website I am having some feedback issues with the touchscreen. Apparently the screen feels input on the left edge which has basically rendered the PC useless since i cant even click.

Here is a vid which better explains the problem im having. Asus x202e touchscreen malfunction - YouTube

i dont know if this is some hardware issue or perhaps theres a windows 8 update or touchscreen calibration im missing but anyhow id like to try and troubleshoot a bit before i send it to RMA... Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Can you use a mouse in the meantime to troubleshoot? Try uninstalling the driver for the monitor in Device Manager, and then let Windows re-install the default driver. Also, try running the update tool for Windows to see if it makes any other changes to the hardware drivers.

So you did not have Windows 8 pre-installed from factory? Unfortunately, there are quite a few compatibility issues with it at the moment. I don't think the SSD itself has anything to do with the problem.

If Asus support can't help you troubleshoot it over the phone, then it might need a RMA unfortunately.

No, the Pc came with a preinstalled windows 8 and i was not having any problems with it at all after i fresh installed it onto the SSD is when the problems came.... I guess its important to. point out that i couldnt find any link to download the windows 8 Iso so i had to use one i found on piratebay. this may be the problem...l guess ill try to install windows 7 on it to see if the problem persists.

Oh, even if the .iso is advertised as "untouched", that's not always the case, and it's likely that with a new OS, there are going to be problems when people attempt to extract and upload pirated content. I can't imagine your problem being directly related to the hard drive, so I would point the finger at the .iso you got. You can get a .iso from Microsoft, but you may need to pay $40 for the file.

Hardware problem = yes. Hard drive = very doubtful.

Yes, keep your SSD if you do a RMA! I've heard customers tell me that Asus support told them that if they sent it in, they were going to remove any upgrades we did for the customer. So just to be safe, hold on to your SSD.

I purchased this laptop around Christmas and it is by far the worst purchase i have ever made. The touch screen does the same thing as what you have in your video and there is not stopping it. I have updated and cleaned my laptop and when i brought it in they said they would wipe my laptop so i would lose all my files and i would get it back 6 months later. DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP!!!! It is slow and has a terrible battery life. the touch screen is not very responsive and the Touchpad is terrible. none of the windows 8 shortcuts work on the touch pad. Save yourself the time and the money do not buy this!!!
