    I got my Asus X52N yesterday.
    When i booted up my laptop today, this popup message appeared.

    ACMON Error
    Failed to prepare Critical file!
    Chameleon Engine out of service!


    It happended again after i rebooted the laptop.
    How do i fix this error?

    Did you do a repair install, or remove, reboot, and reinstall?

    Everything I can find about that error message relates to a bad install of Splendid, so try removing it and see if the problem goes away. You may have to end up searching the registry for splendid and (carefully) deleting keys if it won't completely uninstall.

    Thanks for your help. It looks like it has been fixed. Didn't appear after installing and rebooting. I just uninstalled it from control panel. I didn't go into the registry though if it's not necessary.
