Hi
I purchased one of these within the last 48 hours, its a well-made notebook, and with an aluminium palm rest, even after 4 hours of use it remains cool.
From a system test I found out that the main motherboard used in the system is actually a K53E.
Here is the system information from my machine.
Hope this helps

Hi there ! I also plan to buy this laptop. Can someone tells me how is the power cable on the laptop side ? Is it a straight connector or is it *angled* in L (so cable 90° from plug) ?
Thanks a lot -
It's an L shaped connector

Thank you.
I found some Cebit pictures with shaped but it can change for commercial units. Now, I sure.

No problem, happy to help

Hi,
Some useful information posted.
I'm interested in the Laptop also. Is this a good laptop and is there enough memory to carry out multiple tasks at a fast speed? Is the memory upgradable?
Cheers -
I had some documents on a memory stick, A VERY lager image along with a couple of text documents and a video.
I loaded the image up into paint (OK I know not an intensive program), along with the text documents and the video, the machine multi-tasked everything OK.
Standard Memory : 2GB or 4GB (Removable)
Maximum Memory : 8GB
Total Memory Slots : 2
Memory Type : 204-Pin DDR3 SODIMM PC3-10600 (1333Mhz)
Prices vary but having just done a quick search you can get the following:
8Gb form Crucial or 4Gb from Orca
I have in the past use Crucial memory in both Desktop and Laptop machines with no problem, I know what I would go for as the machine is running 64-bit Windows 8Gb from Crucial.
My only piece of advice as with all machines like this which come with a lot of bloatware is firstly take an image using a program like ghost to an external hard drive, then load up the machine and remove any programs you don't want and then create your recovery DVD's. I know this sounds a bit of a bind but better safe than sorry.
Hope this helps

Hi Steve!
Excellent help! much appreciated and you know your stuff!
Looks like a decent laptop for the price and the memory upgrade can prolong it's life a bit.

Hi All
I took some readings from my X53E machine using the Windows Experience Bench Mark, I ran the tests with the machine as it came with 3Gb of memory then changed this to 8Gb using 4Gb paired sodimms.
Here are the results
3Gb
8Gb
Hope this helps show the difference

Thanks again, may just get one 4gb to give me 6gb overall. Can this be done?

But if you're going to get it from Orca the my advice would be to go to Crucial and get the 8Gb. I ordered mine on Monday (Bank Holiday) Delivered first thing Wednesday morning. Brilliant service, and that was the free delivery option.
