Well I've been considering either buying a new lappy (but waiting for the 5870 setups to drop to ~$1k, or for the 4xx cards to come out), or figure out how to upgrade this x83vm-x1 that I've currently got. It's been a great lappy for the past two years, plays most games a mid-high to high on 1280x800 with aa/ao on low or off, and does all my photochopping/illustrator/premiere/fl studio work that I throw at it with decent performance.

But anyways, found this site not too long ago, and have read a little about MXM compatible cards, and being able to upgrade the video cards if they are. Well, I'm trying to figure out whether my asus has a MXM card and how to go about replacing it, but I've had about zero success trying to google anybody who's modded the X83VM-X1, so I figured I'd ask here.

And also, my rig has 4gigs (2x2gb) of pc5400, but I know it'll support pc6400, but exactly how much ram is the maximum amount it can handle? 8gigs?

    Thanks yall!
