I have an X85L series laptop given to me, but the BIOS has a password on it.

The original owner has no idea about the password, and short of taking it apart and taking out the CMOS battery, I don't know what kind of password would have been put on it? Asus don't put a default password on it do they?

WE can not discuss this here even though the problem seems legit. I would get the original owner to contact ASUS or try contacting them yourself. Note removing the CMOS battery will not fix it.
