Did a search on the site and couldn't find any post regarding the Z35F and Merom support. So does the Z35F support Merom? I already have a W7J and I know it's about to be refrreshed with a Merom CPU. A friend liked the 13.3" form factor of my notebook but wants better battery life for travel use (no gaming whatsoever) so I thought of the Z35F. With the Merom available, I thought about suggesting putting in a Merom CPU but don't know if the Z35F has any BIOS update for Merom support.

why chose c2d? it will only decrease battery life even thioug only by a few minutes have you checked the asus support because they might have a bios update available as in hp but im not sure about it though well i did a yahoo search and was able to find this site that said that the Z35F is merom ready if you want to check it out yourself heres the link

All Yonah (CD) notebooks are "merom-ready", because there is no difference between the CD and C2D merom chips as far as pin number/placement go, so the C2D can simply be dropped into the existing Yonah chipset. However, it obviously still needs a bios update for it to work properly ;) .

Just because a reseller says it's "ready" doesn't mean it would work on existing BIOS, and AGear (nor anyone else, for that matter) in fact doesn't list C2D cpus as an option yet for Z35. Whether Asus will release a bios update for the Z35 model is anyone's guess - since this isn't based on a Ensemble model, and that's where their efforts are currently focused re: bios, there may be a long delay or it may never happen, and it does somewhat depend on whether Asus continues the Z35 as part of the new ASMobile design line that comes out next year (replacing BOAsus). Intel has indicated that Yonah chips will be around for a while yet, although they are being replaced in production by merom without plans to continue the Yonah line (as far as I know, anyway), much like Sonoma being supplanted by Yonah last Spring.

Still no official bios for the model and to date Asus hasn't mentioned an update is coming soon... that's really the only issue.

Also, the ASmobile and Bulit On Asus lines - although Asus realizes they need some more high end designs over there, it's technically just a name change and the current models aren't going anywhere, just some sexier things will be in the pipeline in the spring.

btotech seems to have Merom T5600, T7200, and T7400 listed as the options for Z35f on their website. I'm interested in getting the one with T5600, but I'm still a bit hesitant.
