If you need, then buy. You can of course wait, but there is always something better coming. It is the nature of technology. Any laptop you buy now or in March will be old in three years.

Many thanks for your reply, reason I really asked was that its the first Asus I have seen with a 13 inch screen and a choice of finishes, ie colour shine or crystal shine. I was going to get a Sony but now wonder if this may be a better bet and wondered if anyone had seen the Asus 13 inch screens.

I understand the position you are in, you will have to wait, if you can, to see it and hear other user opinions on it, upon its release.

Also if you find these specifications to meet your needs that's great too, the closest Asus laptops right now are the W5 series, W7 series, if you want to look at that.

But the general rule of purchasing a notebook is, wait as long as possible, or buy when you need it and don't look back. Also, right now most notebooks have 2 Cores, 64 bit processing, express slot 54 or 34 and so buying now, will still make you relatively futureproofed. However Wireless N technology is coming right around the corner.

I'm curious as to what Sony model are you looking into?

It's not a choice, it's an *and*... Most of the newer models have both features on the screens.

I don't see the eSATA port on those specs... It was on the sheet that someone photographed at CES... I hope they didn't remove it, that would be disappointing.
