A thread for discussion on the Z62f! Seems like there's a lot of interest, I think it would be good to have one thread on the subject.

I was going to PM this question to ProPortable, since I know he has a Z62f on hand, but then I would be the only one who would be able to see the answer, so I'll ask this here, for anyone who currently has their hands on a Z62f: how is the keyboard?

I have more questions than that, obviously :p but I wouldn't want to overwhelm anyone and get no answers at all - a lot of people seem to be hungry for info on the new dual-core whitebook that costs $100 less than its single-core predecessor :D

Is the keyboard solid? No "flex", suitably quiet as you type, good travel distance? How about the chassis on the whole? Doesn't bend or feel cheap around the hinges if you pick it up on the corner?

Anyone who wants to share info, please feel free! We all appreciate it :) the ETA can hardly come soon enough!

The keyboard is like most ASUS BTO's... nice.

... very good... someone who thought of the group first. I appreciate that.

The keyboard is just as good as that on the Z63a and W3v... very nice. The screen and the keyboard are the only two things I can say are up to my taste... but that's all a lot of people are looking for..

Here's a question: Does the production z62f has a swappable optical drive. I've read conflicting reports.

Thanks for the info! Yes, not too much to worry about besides screen and keyboard, after all :) as long as it isn't going to fall apart at the seams anytime soon.

Have you, or has anyone, had the chance to check the audio output on the Z62f? Both the speakers and the headphone output - I know the Z63a was plagued with low volume on both. From the look of it, the speakers are even punier on the Z62f than they were on the Z63a :(

They're ok, louder than the Z63A, but still notebook speakers.
