    Hi,

I have been away for about two days, and just returned to a terrible situation with my laptop. My daughter said that she mistakenly inserted another power adapter (that looks similar to mine) into my laptop, and has been using it for the past two days. Just this afternoon, the laptop turned off by itself for no apparent reason. Around the same time, there was a burning smell coming from the power unit. I turned off all power, and let it sit for a while. Any time I start it, it powers up briefly, then turns off.

I suspected that the power system or the fan might be damaged. Is there any way to check this? And if it is, is there anything I can do to repair/replace the power unit?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

    Sincerely, EK
