I bought my Z63A about 1.5 years ago.

For the past 7 months, I noticed that the battery only lasts for about an hour, and since then it has deteriorated to the point that immediately i pull out the AC plug, the machine shuts down.

I have read the forums and followed the suggestions that I should recalibrate it, and turn off the battery alarms. I have done recalibration before, but I don't remember turning off the battery alarms before doing so didn't think I turned off the alarms before doing so. Would this affect its effectiveness.

Yesterday, i started i turned off the battery alarms and started recalibration around 10pm.... the process is still running... "it says it is charging the battery" is this usual..? What should I do? Turn if off and restart?

    warmest regards, EM

Yes, do turn it off. It seems the battery doesn't charge properly.

It looks like your battery is dead... sorry about that... get another one if possible.

Z63a batteries can be bought from the Asus eStore and other select retailers for about $120.
