Not worth it........ unless you have a toshiba or panasonic drive..... you're going to have to glue it to the face and trust me, that's not something I'd suggest you even waste your time with because the glue won't hold up.

I am just curious because some Asus resellers are selling the barebones without an optical drive. If I purchase that barebone, and I am going to buy a DVD-RW, which fits to the barebone, but the DVD-RW facet does fit to the design and color of the barebone. To my understanding, Asus shipt its products including either a DVD/CDRW or DVD-RW. Why are some resellers just selling the barebone without optical drive? What are they going to do with Asus original opticial drives? I am thinking to upgrade my Z70V with a DVD-RW, but I need a matching facet which says "DVD-RW" rather "DVD-ROM" - the one I currently have. Any helps would be greatly appreciated. Sometimes, people call "optical drive face plate", or "plastic bezel cover", or facet. I have no idea which one is correct. This site call "bezel".

The term "reseller" is certainly more appropriate here... where as a lot of the dealers are more "system builders"....... You can buy whatever you want and they can sell whatever they want. If you just want to buy the barebone, you're going to be left in the dark unless you buy the drive that goes in it.

You can' buy the face pieces seperately...

The barebones you are looking at are sold witht he od drives separately to the dealers. You have to buy the od drive from the dealer in order for it to fit your laptop.
