It seems to be working randomly......
I have luck if I uninstall and reload the current driver, it will work until I take the card out and try to reinstert...then no go. I have tried the drivers supplied on the CD that came with the noteboook, drivers from asus.com for the z70v, and drivers from asus.com for the m6v...no luck.
any ideas? think this may be a hardware issue?
btw, this is a new notebook, I havent had any luck from the day I got it. I also tried a fresh install of XP with just the essential drivers loaded...same results.

It could be faulty hardware, though that doesn't really explain why it would work with a new driver install. It's probably best to have the reader replaced anyway though. I assume the card you're using can be read by other devices.

Asus was not much help...maybe its because I called late, but the guy I spoke with seemed like he was stoned. I will try calling again Monday...I'm really going to be erked if I have to send it to Asus. Any ideas how Asus turn around is?
Also, the notebook is less than 30 days old, but I purchased the barebone from Ewiz.com, so I probably cant expect too much service from them. -

wow seems eerely familiar check this thread out http://geared2play.com/phpbb/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?t=210&highlight=hawaii
This customer was suposed to bring it in for us to check out. So your not alone as it seems -
Interesting, seems to be the EXACT same problem. What I think I may do before I regret it is to exchange it to ewiz before the 30 days is up. Between trying 3 different drivers and a fresh install of windows, I dont see what else it could be besides hardware. -

I would say to be absolutely sure you would have to reinsall windows and avoid installing anything but the card reader driver. Something may have caused it to act this way then again with the lack of expreince with this issue i really dont know until someone goes through the proccess of elimination or someone sends us a machine with this issue.

Tried that too. -
Update:
Asus tech's could not reproduce the problem. They hinted that it was probably my SD card. Although reluctant, I had them send me back my laptop.
Just got back from Wallyworld where I purchased a 256mb SanDisk SD card and what do you know...it WORKS! hah. all this time and it was the friggin card. Even though the card works perfectly with my camera, its flaky with my computer, go figure. -
Good to hear that everything worked out... yay for ASUS
