Hi I bought a Z71 barebone, the laptop fire's up but can't get a charge into the battery. When I turn the unit on, the orange light comes on for a few seconds like it wants to charge the battery. Then goes out, I tried another batter the same results. The 1st battery starts with the Ser # 53NP, (Possible bad lot) but the second starts with 59NP. Has anyone else experienced this or had similiar problems?

Any battery starting below 60Np is a not only more than a year old, but part of the bad batch that was replaced by Asus. Because those numbers are more than a year old, Asus may not replace them for you. Asus has a thing about their year warranty... it's to the dealer, from when the dealer bought it. So you could have bought it last week and Asus won't care. The problem is, it's up to your dealer and if this is a new purchase, it's something they had to have on hand for a loooooong time and if that's the case, they probably don't sell much and may give you a problem swapping the batteries - especially because Asus won't take them back for them on their side...

But it's most likely your batteries.
