    Hi,

I bought a Asus Z7100 from cyberpowerinc about 3 years ago, and I was hoping someone could help me make some changes to it.

I need to get a new battery. Where is the cheapest (reliable place) to get a new battery.

The dvd burner (despite being replaced about 4 times) doesn't work. If it is really cheap, I may get a different model then the current one I have.

Can I disable the stupid light sensor. My laptop brightness goes up and down all the time, I just want to take it off automatic control.

I am most concerned about the battery.

    Welcome to the forum!

ALS should have an entry in device manager or msconfig that you can disable to make it stop. Start there.

Any slim DVD notebook drive should work - do a search here for threads that talk about the ones that people have ordered and found reliable, or post a separate thread with that question if you can't find what you need that way.

I believe that Asus stopped manufacturing the Z71 batteries last year sometime, and the Z71 had a history of being plagued by battery problems. You can find a number of compatible replacements if you do a google search, but batteries are nearly always $80+.

I think the shortcut for the lightsensor is Fn+A (I don't have it myself but that's what people say they use).

If the newest batteries are indeed 1 year old, they're probably not quite dead yet. So you may want to look for an original battery. Perhaps on the ASUS eStore.

I don't think the eStore stocks anything for Z71, at least I didn't see anything.

Type "Asus Z71 battery" into Google.......
