Hello, I have had my Asus Z71V for a good 2 years now, and a few months ago it started having an over heating problem. Around the hole my ac adapter plugs into my laptop was getting scorching hot, to the point where I actually got burned from touching it.
I knew my friends dad could help, he knows how to fix the problem on a DELL computer. He tried disassembling my asus Z71V and got it 99% disassembled, but when he tried to take the keyboard out to get to the motherboard he had a problem. There are two hooks that hold the keyboard in. He got one out, but there is one on the right side that he just cant get out. Hes tried everything and the only way he can think of now is to just force it, which could possibly break something.
We looked on the asus site AND (from what we think) everywhere else on the internet, and couldn't find any system manuals for asus Z71V.
Does anybody know where we can find a system manual for this model, or has anyone heard of this disassembly problem and knows how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Sam

The regular users manual for this model contains no disassembly instructions, so it would be of no help if you found it. These are the most detailed disassembly instructions we have for the Z71V keyboard.
There should be three keyboard latches and you should be able to release them all with a pair of tweezers. The latches should be at those points circled in red:
None of them should need to be forced. With the latches released you'd pull the keyboard forward and up and disconnect its ribbon cable from the motherboard. I hope that's of some use to you.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
The most detailed disassembly instructions I've seen are in this thread at Z71 Forums: http://www.z71forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154
edit: and if you didn't deal with the middle keyboard tab, that could explain why you couldn't get it out. I start with the left tab, pop that one out, then pop out the center one, and then I can pop out the right one. also, don't forget to unscrew the 2 screws on the bottom marked "K" before popping up the tabs, or your keyboard won't be going anywhere!
