I'm building my sis a notebook for her b-day, and i've narrowed my choice down to the Asus z9000, and the M3n. I've gotten some info on each, from the usual sources, but nothing that really compares the two. The notebook will be used primarily for office apps, with some video editing, utilizing an external drive for capture/storage, but wont be used for gaming, so 3d performance isnt an issue in this situation.

Has anyone tested or used both models? How do the two screens compare for glare & 2d video quality? Is the ATI rs300mb a fast, reliable chipset compared to the 855gme? Does the ati chipset support the new 'dothan' p4 mobile procs? Will both or either of these two support the Corsair xms2700 sodimm's? Any advice in general regarding either of these two?

    Thanks

I am sorta leaning towarts the z9000, but i havent seen any reference to built-in memory on this model...? I'm hoping it comes with the two standard sodimm slots to fit the corsair xms2700 sodimm's i just ordered...

personally i'd go for the z9000 simply because its a more powerful
machine in comparison with m3n... also it comes with built in memory
so u put a stick of 512 in there, a 1.5 dothan, 40gig, and ur done

Your right it does have 2 sodimms. But most notebooks come with the first one(which is usually hard to get at and located under the keyboard) filled. Thus only one space is left for the end user to upgrade without voiding your warranty.

Just got my Z9000 today, HIGHLY recommended, as yet I have still yet to find out why its so cheap, maybe the vid card??? i love it, if you know anything about computers and drivers, get it... (im assuming all laptops have some driver issues at the start). by driver issues i mean just downloading the right ones. but yeah, great laptop, got it from etccomputer.ca, for under $2000 with shipping and optical mouse. RECOMENDED!

The z9000 sure sounds nice. I've got one on order, wont be in till next week. It was pretty sweet having all the drivers on a single html page(ATI). Too bad nobodys had one of these and the m3np running at the same time for a side by side comparison...
