Hey just wanna say thanks for doing this, and yea YouTube would have been better... But it's the fact that you actually made a video presentation. Props!

The videos are outstanding, Eddie; these, w7, w3, etc. They really give the potential buyer the next best thing to actually touching one, rather than having to rely on press photos or something else :D. The wmv files don't take all that long with broadband speeds to download, and the quality seems similar to the avi's on the xga monitor here in the office.

BTW, whose reflection is it occasionally popping onto the screen? Do we have an Eddie sighting - are you the shooter? :)

Edit: Must be the monitor here... yes, the wmv isn't as sharp when the camera is still or moving slowly. will have to try the avi when I get home

Am i the only one that sees the quality severely impaired when you got from avi to wmv and even worse on youtube? Take a good look at the 600mb avi and then compare to the 80mb wmv. The quality is 2 times better on the avi. On you tube the quality is 4 times worse.
Yar the white khakis is mua. The hand with the wedding band is not me. So in case there are any female stalkers here i am definitely not married just yett.

I agree with you Ed, but try encoding with HD263 or XVID/DIVX instead of wmv.. You wont lose so much and the file will be under 40megs. (Thats for you to save bandwidth of course, i dont mind the large size)

:D Great video yet again from Geared2Play! I was so impressed with your w3j videos a couple months ago that I almost went and bought one that night! :D

How does the brightness of the z96j's screen compare to the brightness of a w3j's screen? (From the video, the z96j looks bright, but what settings was it on?) I know that the z96j's screen has much better res than the s96j's screen, but I just wanted to see if that it is brighter than the s96j's screen, too. According to another thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=1397059&postcount=56), the s96j's screen on 80% brightness was only about as bright as 50% on a w3j. I am just concerned that the s96j's screen wouldn't be bright enough.

In another thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64818&page=2&highlight=z96j), the comment was made that the z96j's screen was "Very nice, sharper than Z71V screen, brighter than Z70Va screen." Since I am unfamilar with the Z71V and Z70Va screens, a comparison of the z96j screen to the w3j screen would be most helpful.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Another excellent video!! You oughtta talk to Asus about doing these videos for them. They'd be a great sales tool as well as giving customers a way to see the notebooks in action.

Kind of hard to compare i have not used them side by side but i did not notice a difference if any. I will have the w3j done with the same camera next week. In the dark i guess its pretty easy to tell though i doubt you will see a diff. The ambient light in our storage room is pretty much the same throughout the day so hopefully the videos will help you

Already did. The initial idea was to hire a cad/maya specialist to draw up a 3d model of the unit. it was going to be about 500$ per each. Asus would pick up the tab as part of our marketing funds but then i thought about it and just decided to buy a sony digicam. I think its better this way. atleast you have the ability to see the screen in person. Now all i need is a revolving table or trypod with wheels and a "white-room". Oh well i guess this will do for now.
