The Z96Js data sheet says the following:
14.2"x10.5"x1.1"~1.5"
5.5 lbs. w/6 cell battery
15.4" WSXGA+ ColorShine Screen (glossy)
256 mb X1600
No DVI
Only SATA hard drives.
Interestingly enough it says 5 USB 2.0 ports. I'm unclear on why that differs from Eddie's sample. He did say it was a demo version. I have never heard of the Z96Js before but expect this is the US version. There is also a Z96Jp on Asus's web site and I'm not aware of the differences.

THe interesting thing is that Canada and US are now getting slightly different models now.
Now if the Z96js is really coming with a high res glossy screen, that would be interesting, but it may just be a typo or something.
But Samsung did claim to have created a high res glossy screen, you can see it on the Samsung X60 Studentbook Edition.
Also specs are subjective to change when released.
There will be different models numbers if Canada and US get different versions and laptops.
We will find out real soon about this stuff, in about 1-2 months from now.
Lets hope for the best
Thanks,

I wonder if the markets are really that different to neccessitate different builds?

1-2 months? Wow, I hope it does not take that long. I'm leaning more towards the Z96J than the MSI MS-1039 now and I really do not want to wait that long. I have been using my old backup notebook since my primary notebook died and it is killing me... -

hehe!! i have been waiting over 8 months to get a 2nd gaming unit other than my desktop.
Then again its been about 4 years since i've bought a computer and the fact that i can't play with my brother in computer games is quite annoying untill i get a laptop lol.
Canadasys will keep us update on the release dates and then he'll let us know what's up.
Just hang in there, that's all we can do.
I also do hope the Z96js comes sooner, same with the Canadasys laptop show, but no word yet.
Thanks,

Canada and US will not get different models, there will be some Canada only models, especially on the ensemble side because Canada is doing a little bit better than US. All models in US will be also in Canada, but for these Canada only models, if a US reseller wants it, I don't see any reason why Asus will say no.
In Canada, whitebox and ensemble is about 5:5, in US, is about 9:1, surprised? -

A bit surprised. I know for us whitebook to ensemble is 9:1 even worse actually but i figured it be the same for anyother. I guess canadains got more money to spend -

its not that we got more to spend, it that there are 10x more american than Canadians.
Lets say you bring 100 Canadians to an ASUS laptop show, and 1000 Americans because there are 10x more of you guys. lets say 10% of them buy the ASUS Z70va.
Meaning 10 Canadians and 100 americans, hence more american buy more BOA. i dunno it seems like that to me.
Thanks,

Sorry bro i just cant connect the dots. What does population density hav e to do with ratio. 2 rich counties like canada and usa probably have the same unemplyment rate. Just guessing ofcourse. What does the fact that america has probably 10x the population have to do with unemployement rate. I am no math expert but i am guessing in this case population desnity does not affect ratio of ensembles to whitebooks. -

You are all wrong, it is not because Canadians have more money (actually just the opposite), and has nothing to do with population, unemployment rate, like nicer things(who doesn't?)......., we have 5:5 ratio(sounds like we did a good job) is just because........... don't tell others, it is a secret: we did a very poor job on whitebox models. Tricky?
I am a whitebox lover, most of other resellers here are not. Disti always tells me: only you like whitebox, you are weird.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

A whitebox loer huh? Does that require the use of a special lubticant or extra slippery thermal paste? You should have conveyed to learning_asus your feelings and how to treat the whitebox. His relationship may have lasted longer with his beloved z83. Sorry that was a sucker punch
