    Hi all,

I bought the Asus Z96J without knowing all the problems with the Ricoh combo card (express card and firewire) and was hoping that some of the big notebook sellers on the forums could help with a request.

First could some people please confirm that this is the chipset used in the Z96J?

Flash Memory Card Controller LSI R5C832

I haven't actually used the firewire chipset, but I'm planning on buying a new DJ mixer that has a firewire soundcard integrated (either the Korg Zero 8 or the Ecler Evo 5)

There's obviously a big case for Asus, Intel and Ricoh to sort out the problems with the chipset, be it a firmware update or new drivers, I know the the buying power of some companies on this forum were mainly the catalyst to get the video card driver graininess issue sorted

    What is the problem?

Because with the stock drivers on the driver CD that came with my S96J everything works fine.

Ricoh supposedly make a crap firewire chipset, audio card manufacturers recommend (Texas Instrument chipsets), I wish i knew this before i bought the laptop, I think only Apple and HP offer the TI chipset Solution.

I was hoping that it's more the drivers that are written for the Ricoh that is the problem, if you do a bit of googling you'll see there are heaps of problems

If you do not have a problem then what exactly as you asking?

I have no opinion on Ricoh hardware in my computer because it has not caused me any problems.
