    Hello.
I recently purchased a z96js and seem to have some problem with the noise.
I read a lot of reviews and all I heard was that the fan noise is relatively quiet except when hard gaming situations. After building the notebook, I get a lot of fan noise when windows is loading and also sometimes when I am just browsing the internet. I was using a dell 6400 core duo machine before and compared to that, the z96js that I have now seems really loud. I am not sure how loud this notebook is suppose to be.
Is this normal or is there an actual hardware problem with my machine. Any help please.
These are the components I installed.

    Core 2duo t5500
    Kingston 2GB(2x1GB) 533 RAM
    FUjitsu SATA 120GB Hard drive
    Toshiba TS OPtical

You sure it's the fan? When Windows is loading or browsing the Internet, my hard drive is spinning, not my fan. My fan rarely comes on during non-gaming situations. Perhaps there's a loose screw somewhere?

Can I suggest an admin move this to the Asus thread? That thread seems to get more visitors than the aftermarket upgrades thread.

Welcome to the forums, corenso. I am going to move your question over the Asus forum where you will likely get more input/suggestions on your question.

the fan is very quite even when gaming. it is possible that you maybee forgot to remove the thermal pad covers when you put it on. there are 4 thermal pads covered by a thin piece of nylon too keep it "moist" as well as a paper tab over the cpu paste
