Ok, you may have heard this from me a couple months ago, but today we finally have a press release to confirm it.
Asus teamed up with Lamborghini to design a series of notebooks in the Ensemble line that will represent the ultimate in technologoy and automobile fusion. They are going to be stressing the innovation, power, speed, strength and beauty. These systems are not supposed to be just a regular ensemble model with a Lambo logo and yellow lambo paint.... Lamborghini actually had a lot of design input on the project and there will be at least 2-3 different models. The models are said to have either black of yellow paint schemes alone with carbon fiber and aluminum.
I've seen a couple of them and they're just hot - plain and simple. More info as Asus decides to release it.

Thanks for the info, Justin.
I'm itching to see what these things will look like... -
PROPortable Company Representative
One will be a V6 varient - with a different lid.... Pretty good, but more expensive. One person said the V6j is supposed to have a $500 premium on it.... so picture the that as the premium for Yonah - plus another premium for "lamborgini" on the package.
.... as the models go on they will start to become truly individual and won't share any of their chassis with any other ensemble model.... They're going to push this further than Acer with their Ferrari model by actually making a better quality and better performing unit along with actual input from the namesake. I'd post some of the pictures I have but Asus doesn't want those released yet. -
i cant wait to see this.
-
Wow! I can't wait to see these things! I take it that they should look way better than the Acer Ferrari
-
Heh, I knew what my next laptop brand would be a long time ago
-
who will win the race? Acer Ferrari or Asus Lambo?
-
We weren't supposed to release pics, but someone else already leaked them.

here are some pictures i saw on notebookforums..looks sleek..the v6 with a black paint job...SEXY
:asus:
took out the last pic cuz it was big..left the link though -

That's just the first model and I'm glad I'm not the one who released them...... the next two models in the lineup should be a lot more exciting.
-
Wow...tat thing looks SEXY! Looks like a widescreen version of the V6...
I love black notebook computers.. -
PROPortable Company Representative
It may look like a widescreen version --- but it's just a V6 chassis with a bump out on the lid...... it's not widescreen.. This model is really just a painted lid with a special bump out (which you can love or hate).... that's about it, honestly. It's nice and it's going to probably be spec'd out higher than the normal ensemble model..... and obviously then more expensive for the configuration and the limited nature of the "special edition" and actual Lambo authentication..... but for the most part this is the equivalent of what Acer did with the 8100 series and making it their "ferrari" model. Appearently Lambo designed the little touch on the lid which is more than Ferrari did for Acer...... but future models are going to actually spin off completely seperate lines whose chassis' are not shared in the least with any other model....
-
Interesting...
It's amazing what a little hump and a new paint job can do -

... it's the angle and lighting on the laptop.. if you compare those shots with the the V6va shots on our site you'd see what I mean.

jesus that is gorgeous

I think there are 2 just in Q1.... we'll see how that actually plays out though. Intel is totally behind this and they plan to give these Lambo models they star treatmeant.... they are going to use them to showcase the best of the best....... from components to build quality to design.... They are going to be expensive and limited, but I bet more people will have heard of "lamborghini notebooks" by the summer than "asus" .... Technically they are giving Lambo an entire line..... like you'll have the "build on" , the "ensemble", then the "lamborghini" ...... there will be a dedicated model line....
We'll see how it plays out, but considering I paid nearly $225.00 USD for a lambo designed golf shirt when I was in Italy.... there's no doubt There's going to be a premium on this just for the name....... but if they are bumping up the specs on it as well... the number just goes up from there. -
that is so gorgeous. i with they had that on a w2v. hahaha but w2 is sexy already!
-
oh, wow, instead of fixing design flaws, they slap some lame car logo on a notebook...
- but then again, some people get impressed by just about anything. what's next ? I can't wait for this novelty product:
-
Haha!
To be honest, I don't see the big fuss about laptops designed by car manufacturers. It just seems very gimicky to me. I'd be lying if I said that looks don't matter at all, but I prefer more minimalist designs like the W3 series (or even the Apple notebooks!) -- unless the bump on the lid has some function, I'd prefer that it wasn't there. I'd be interested to see what the other designs look like, but I certainly wouldn't pay extra for looks.
I hear the next model will have a spoiler for reducing drag and improving top speed -
Of course, Lambo is faster than Ferrari in the world.......
-
I Cant say i wont spend some more on design i bought a w2v not exactly the cheapest. But i dont like this v6v i prefer the look to the regular one by far. why would you want a car logo on a laptop seems stupid. i dont see the big deal to just adding a different lid. But they are supposed to come out with a complete custom design by lambo so that might turn out nice as long as they dont keep just busting out pcs with different lids like this one and acer.

This first model is nothing to really write about in my mind because we've had the V6 for 10 months now and this isn't anything different (really).... However, some of VW forums I frequent (VW owns Audi, Bentley,Bugatti, Seat and has a stake in Lamborghini).... They posted news about this and people were REALLY interested. If anything it's to help get people who know quality and design to come and check out what Asus has to offer..... they're the ones willing to pay for high-end stuff.
With that said......... again - the next two models in the line are actually something to talk about and this reved up V6 is just to start the "brand" and get people talking........ -
IM sure the next ones will be better i just think it was dumb with just the lid thing. Also i think they should drop the car logos on the laptops and making like the theme to windows all ferrari like acer. there are plenty of other products like digi cams that have been designed by porche and others that arent tagged to hell with their name. drop the logos design a laptop from scratch that isnt available as a regular asus unlike the acer 8100 and fearrari same **** laptop. and id concider buying one as long as the specs come close to justifying the price.
-
PROPortable Company Representative
That's true........ and see there is a difference there....
Lamborghini actually has a design firm... so does Porche..... Ferrari really doesn't...... this model was to grab excitement at CES and have something to start marketing..... I totally agree with you and I think as long as they go along with the other models, they're going to have a nice line. -
Do you know if one of the "next" models in the Lambo series will be widescreen?
-
PROPortable Company Representative
Can't really comment on them and can't give you pictures because I've only seen sketches so far.... but it's safe to say this will be the only regular ratio.....
... but on that note.... the V6 is really one of the last regular ratios Asus is going to make..... mostly everything next year will be widescreen (for better or worse). -
How about put a sexy lil external LCD somewhere like a cellphone that'll tell you if you have e-mail, etc. ^_^. Sexier than a HUMP.
-
I don't know if those would really "fit" in a notebook. I've only seen small (actually really small) external black and white LCDs on the front of notebooks, like mine.
-
if those would fit... have u seen the razr? 2 color screens back to back extreamly thin, not sure if this is a good idea but it would fit lol

........ well Asus debuted the W5 prototype for Longhorn last year.... one feature Mr Gates is pushing is an external display to display notifications such as new emails, media player track names and so on...... Asus plans on releasing notebooks with these external displays once Vista actually comes out......
Personally, I didn't think the huge hump on the W5 I say was attractive, but it was certainly cool. As time goes on and these actually come out they will be better integrated into the design.... it's a cool idea.. but a year down the road. -
Hmm....
Sounds interesting - maybe Asus could make a sliding cover to protect the screen (and the notebook's looks)? Sounds nice though. -
PROPortable Company Representative
harder lexan over the screen is actually what's planned...... yeah it could scratch, but it's harder than plexi and realistically is only going to get as scratched as the lid of your notebook does.... so it should stay nice for a long time.
-
Its a good feature to to be able to check mail without booting the device. I hope model would also use Roseta feature. With some flash memory if we boot the system it would be even faster.
-
I wonder what the lid will be made out of. Hope its like the W3V, so slick & cold to the touch.
-
PROPortable Company Representative
... the lid on what? If you're on topic and talkinga bout this first Lamborghini model.... since it's based on the V6, having a magnesium lid is not out of the question since that's what it has now.... but due to the bump out as deseigned by Lambo, they may have switched the lid over to carbon fiber like the rest of the chassis.
... on another note, at ces they showed some pictures of this first Lambo model and the ONLY difference besides the lid seems to be a blue led under the left and right click buttons making for a streak of light between the two. -
oooooooo LEDs! where's my rolleyes smiley?
I hope the spec is top of the heap, at least. -
Well the Lambo at CES has the screen on the outside...
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28715
Wow this notebook...im excited ^_^! -
Certainly makes the Acer Ferrari seem...horribly average...
-
PROPortable Company Representative
... yeah, that screen isn't on the V6 variant....... but possibly another model down the road. If you look at that image of the 2nd screen..... it's not the lid of the V6 but rather the W5..... it's actually idential to the lid that was put on the demo unit that Bill Gates used to show off features of longhorn 7-8 months ago.
Asus said they didn't intend on putting it on any system till Vista was released becasue of comaptibilty issues or something like that. I can certainly see it being used on the 2nd and 3rd models...... but from the pictures, it's not on the first one and the image displayed was a different notebook altogether. Although, with the bumpout present.... it's certainly possible and would make the bumpout that much understandable as it has a function. -
PROPortable Company Representative
.... you know what... the other thing is the guy who wrote this is a complete idiot..... I think he wrote it off of pictures other people took. The remote sitting next to the notebook isn't for the notebook, but rather for the media center extender that is under the unit......... it's an entirely different product.
AND
The pink leather covered notebook is COMPLETELY different as well...... Not only do I think this guy just did a report on the pictures, but I think he thought he no one who read it would have as much as clue about what was going on and would just eat it up........
... not like the inquirer ever has a "great reputation" ... but that's pathetic. -
Sadly i didnt read the article til now..also i thought it was weird that a notebook for the machine is almost as big as the machine!
So the second screen will only be implemented when vista comes out...well thats a little dissapoointing but who cares...LAMBORGHINI! -
PROPortable Company Representative
Well... it's supposed to.... I haven't seen anything on the contrary... but if my information was just based on this guys report, I wouldn't trust a thing he said because a layman could see the three biggest things he tied together were all completely seperate products.
I know it's possible to run an external screen even in XP.... but it's supposed to be one of the BIG things about vista.... so it's possible that they will implement them early and run some other software to make them work and making the units "vista compatible".... but for now at least I doubt it.
.... with that said, even the first lambo model isn't finished yet and nothing will be set till the US office orders them... but again, the first one is just to get word buzzing around and it's not a bad unit... it's a V6 and whatever it'll have will most likely be worth it. But from there on out it'll be it's own sub brand with it's own dedicated models...... This can only be good for asus and lambo and with lambo's help in marketing, this is going to be a very good thing. -
will proportable see the lamborghini notebook or any core duo notebooks in the near future. I am looking for a core duo notebook and Asus would be my 1st preference.
-
There seems to be no replacement for the W3V?? I'd think that it would be the model creating the most fuzz in here!
