    Hi

im happy to say that i have finally ordered G50VT-A1 from Xoticpc.com instead of Newegg...

it is cheaper for 1590 so i added Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound for 37$

(im hopiny that it will dissipate heat better...is that true?)

for me xoticpc looks more professional (u can customize) than newegg...

did anyone tried xoticpc? and what do u think of them?(I just want to be in peace of mind... )

The best thing also about xoticpc is that they ship out the USA....for me to Dubai-UAE where i live(googleMAPS it)

shipping will cost 250$...its too much but you wont find a lappy with this specs anywhere here (the best is 8800mGTS in 20' HP....bulky)

total with shipping.....1885$ (6935 UAE Dirhams... all my savings)

anyway...i just wanted to share my experience and really advice u to use xoticpc instead fo newegg...at least for me its much better al around.

    peace...

Yeah, xoticpc is great. Some of my friends in the US have used it, they've recommended it to me. You won't go wrong with xoticpc.
If you want, you can check their rating on www.resellerratings.com

Oh btw, I'm in Dubai right now. :D
    Going to US soon.

One thing you should be (or have been) aware of is that due to the customization and thermal paste replacement, you have lost the ASUS warranty and accidental damage protection. You are now covered by XoticPC instead. They are however reputable as posts above say, and they will probably offer you excellent service in case something goes wrong; but it's something to keep in mind nevertheless.

    :(
    WHAT????!!!

what are u talking about man?!

thats not possible...if what u say is true they would have said so before u can choose to use or not the arctic silver

also at the end u can choose the type of the warranty even of u choose A-silver....

also if it voids the warranty why the h*** would they even offer it???......not logical

i cant belive it....now im reeeaaally worried!! :(

EBE is entirely correct, as that is Asus' corporate policy which sometimes gets lost in the fine print of the websites of resellers who do this - any customization which breaks any of the internal warranty seals (you have to pull the cpu plate to put the AS on, and the screw seals have to come off for that) voids the Asus product warranty. You need to talk to Xotic about how they're going to offer warranty work when you're overseas.

As Xotic generally takes several days to process orders, perhaps you can cancel your customization if you contact them expeditiously, and request just a standard G50 notebook..... AS won't offer any appreciable benefit anyway.

Technically, as ClearSkies says, I am correct. However ASUS tend to not be picky about this, at least their North-American branches, so in a pinch, they will probably offer you warranty anyway. Just keep in mind that technically you're not entitled to it with a customized notebook. :)

Additionally, as I already said, XoticPC is very reputable and they will provide good service themselves; so most likely you will not need to go to ASUS with your problems.

So don't worry too much about this. You could also try giving Xotic a call and asking about this.

I ordered my G50Vt-A2 from Xotic and Justin has always been there for help and answer all my questions in a very timely manner. Send him an email about the thermal paste and he will answer it. Congrats on your purchase.

Yeah, I would suggest you contact Xotic and if it's still possible have them cancel any modifications to the notebook (mainly those that require heatsink removal).

As ClearSkies says, these things are sometimes lost in the fine print and unpleasant situations may result for the buyer...

If you are able to cancel the customization, there's no reason to "feel sick" about this. Thermal paste replacement will provide only a marginal improvement in temperatures, in most cases.

xotic has great prices, but way too slow to ship a factory built machine out the door. 7 days? come on! I pay over night shipping, now thats 7+1 to my door. That's way too long.

As was explained to me, it's faster if it's stock.
