Ok so I ordered an Asus M70VM from a company here in the UK called Mesh Computers...

I've been waiting more than 6 weeks now for the M70VM to arrive and I keep getting told Asus are delaying the delivery of the notebook!

Has anyone else here in the UK experienced the same issue?

I'd like to know as I'm starting to get really concerned that I may be being given the run-around...

Thanks in advance for any help/advice on this. :)

Feedback on ASUS from UK is far from stellar, but I don't remember complaints about resellers. I would advise you to cancel your order and request an immediate refund.

What was their initial estimated time of delivery? If shorter than 6 weeks then you can use that as an argument.

Here's an example email that I used:

Ok well thanks for the advice.

There wasn't a delivery date specified and the laptop wasn't even flagged as a new product (since I complained about that they seem to have changed the website to reflect that though, conveniently...), and I am getting it on finance, although the company have already taken their deposit of £98 and change...

I don't really want to cancel the order as I do want the laptop, I'm just wondering if the delays are really caused by Asus stalling on the release of the M70VM to the UK or if I'm being given the run-around. If it's Asus stalling then other people who have ordered the same laptop from other companies would (in theory) be experiencing the same delays so can anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks. :)

I see. I would check if the product is listed as "available" on the website of other companies (usually they have "realtime" available counters). If so, then I'd assume that I am indeed given the runaround and I'd request a refund.

Yep done that already, can't find a site that doesn't have them listed as "subject to stock" or "available on demand"...

I have emailed Asus via their website to see if they can shed some light on the issue. Problem is I really want this laptop and now I've signed the finance forms I don't want to have to go to another company and go through the process all over again, thus putting a possible delivery back even further.

From the cageyness of the companies I have also emailed regarding this (Lambdatek being one) I think that Asus are genuinely holding out on us here in the UK, don't know why though as there don't seem to be any "reported" delays or reasons for a delay...

Generally I'm getting v annoyed as my current rig is just barely holding itself together and I think it's liable to break anytime soon (monitor is being held on with 2 clamps at the hinges due to broken hinges and the performance despite tweaking/cleanups is generally indicating hardware failure somewhere...).

I shall see what Asus have to say to the half a dozen emails they should have had via their web page.

I just wish I could find out some more from people who have ordered them here in the UK rather than just having to sit here and wait...

Then, it seems indeed that they do not have it available.

It is available in the Netherlands, though, e.g., http://www.goris.nl/products/information.php?product=15531

I am not sure how separated in time are UK and NL releases, but reasoning only on the basis of geography, they shouldn't be too far off...

Hmm, odd. Yes I believe now that Asus are the problem as I've just been advised my delivery of the notebook is imminent, i.e. it's been promised for this week and I've actually had a confirmation of delivery email this time...

And they've apparently thrown in a 17" aluminium cooling fan for "compensation" for the delays...

I'm not holding my breath though, call me suspicious if you want.

Enjoy your notebook. :) Glad you didn't follow my initial (bad) advice and canceled your order.
