Is Europe cool or what? Not only do they make the best cars in the world, they also get the cool stuff before we do. Was at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany this week. All the W3's were there, along with the W5 - both color versions - and the V6V.

They sell the W3N here already and will get the W3V soon. I might end up taking one back home.

They won't get the W3A here at all though (except it was at CeBIT). Not that it matters but it makes me wonder who will get that system as it won't come to North America either.

Btw, they will actually get the white W5A in Europe anyway. That wasn't the plan but due to positive feedback they opted for it anyway.

I have a few pics of all this stuff. Let me know if there's anything you guys want to see.

Well as a consumer, with all of the notebooks at your finger tips, I'm sure many people, including myself, would like to hear what you have to say about the new Asus systems ... and anything else you find that is new and exciting. Side by side shots of the W5/V6 and W3 are something a lot of people have been waiting to see.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    Hey guys,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm on a tight schedule until I'm in the states at the end on the week. Do anyone have an easy solution for hosting pictures? I can't put them on our corporate site.

I will post my CeBIT impressions when I have a minute. I especially like the W3 and W5 but also saw the W2 there. I'll let you know what I think.

Never mind, it appears that the photo was taken through glass.

It looks like a V6 to me but due to the glass screen that the notebook is behind its hard to tell if it has a glare screen or not.

Can someone take a look at the last photo under the 'V6' section and tell me if this is a V6 with a glare-type display.

    http://www.mobile-review.com/nb/articles/asus-notepc-cebit2005.shtml

It appears to be different from the other V6 photos. Notice the sticker to the left side of the touchpad and notice the display stand it sits on.. It seems to be a V6 with a glare-type display.

It's a V6, but it must be behind something and infront of some heavy lighting, but the notebook looks like a slightly differnt hue..... but the screen certainly isn't a glare-type screen. The ones we have don't have one, and it's not spec'd any differently around the world.

I'm really liking the direction that ASUS is going with their notebook selection... their designs and their prices are great.
I have no doubt in my mind that my next notebook will again be an ASUS... I love their touchpad design.

I'm loving the second generation digimatrix...... and the lcd screen they will want to sell with it.... they work on a different level with their stuff.. if they design it, and they like it, they'll be making it. They build for a smaller qroup of people, so they don't have to appeal to EVERYONE..... so if they are a little higher priced for style and quality... so be it.

Are we talking about the same picture? I don't think so........ If we go to this link: http://www.mobile-review.com/nb/articles/asus-notepc-cebit2005.shtml

The last picture is the W3.. it's not behind glass... But the 12th picture down, just before the W5 info starts.... thats a V6... I could have sworn someone asked:

Aw man! My bad, I read it too fast and checked the last pic on the page instead...

The real picture we are talking about is definitely a V6. It was behind glass with a black W5A.

About the stickers -> I also shot another V6 and it had the same stickers on the left side of the touchpad. It is a great notebook, it was great playing with it for a while. But it is too big for my use unfortunately. Hence my interest in the W3/W5.

Actually it is a W3V. Notice the widescreen as opposed to the V6. I played with that same machine for quite some time. It does have a glare screen. It wasn't behind any kind of glass. I can tell you the screen on that system is one of the best screens I have seen on an Asus. And on any notebook for that matter. I have some more pics of it - will post as soon as I'm back home. Before the end of the weekend! Thanks for the patience guys.

Yeah... the stickers are just to boost about the warranty... they come off......

Don't worry about it, I'm sure you're run down from your trip. It's an honest mistake.

mbdriver, what are your thoughts on the V6's display exclusive of glare-type displays? Also, what are your thoughts on the V6's dimensions relative to the M6?

    Thanks again.

Just to give you an idea about one thing..... the footprint of the V6 is smaller because it was designed exclusively for a regular ratio screen. It's the same depth of the M6, but it's almost exactly 1" shorter. That's because the M6 was designed for two different screen ratios..... Another way to look at it would be, if the M6 was designed for strictly widescreen...... it'd certainly be about an inch shorter from front to back.

The obvious things about the dimensions... like the weight and the thickness are things need not be talked about.. but that footprint is very much different.

    Thanks,
    Justin
