After a long decision process I thought I knew which notebook I wanted. I planned on purchasing an HP business line due to local dealer support.

Yesterday I was so ticked with the lack of professionalism that I have decided to forgo going that route.

Others on the forum have long suggested that I look to Asus as the "brand" of choice. That the resellers of this brand are some of the best out there. Quality produts and quality service seem to be what has been stated.

Saying that does anyone know of a great Asus company that I could try? I need to have a notebook in my hands absolutely no later than 07/07/06 as I leave on a week trip that evening and need the notebook by then.

I am of course willing to do overnight shipping to insure the delivery.

Any help on this would be greatly appreicated!!!!!

    Thanks!

    where do you live?

You should check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=25849
Towards the middle of the first page, there is info about resellers and where they are located.

Furthermore, use resellerratings.com to find real opinions about each reseller. BTW, what kind of laptop are you looking for?

There aren't any newer 'unplanned' releases, perhaps 'refreshes' to follow Intel's price drops.

Given the holiday, regardless of what Asus ensemble you order, 2Day shipping would be enough to get it in your by Friday, at least from us. I would have to say the only exception would be the W7 because we have backorders to fill when we reopen next week and next orders won't be going out till the 7th or even Monday the 10th. However, all other ensemble are instock and ready to go. Usually any order in before noon eastern can ship the same day, so you don't need to overnight anything. You should also keep in mind that the W5/A7/W2/V6 also have $200 rebates on them good for purchase up until the 9th, if you were looking at one of those.

The first think you need to do is find the notebook for you though. I'd help you out but you've given no indication of what you're looking for or what your needs are. Feel free to email me if you need some assistance selecting a certain model.

    Good luck with your search.

I think she's looking for a "business class" notebook as indicated in some of her other threads. I think she was about to purchase a 14 inch, Hewlett-Packard NC....something a rather :) Any notebook you have that would fit those specifications?

I could grasp that much even from the thread above..... Thinking V6j or W3j right off the bat.

I believe she was looking at business notebooks with integrated graphics in the 'What should I buy thread'. The main purpose is for office work and some photo editing with Photoshop if I'm not mistaken.

So for ASUS models, the Z83/Z63a (don't the exact numbers, but old centrino models) would suffice.... or the A8F Core Duo (but not avail in US)... prob some more I forget to mention.

Edit: Just remembered that Z62F is core duo.. so it's a good idea

Certainly they would suffice, but in terms of a professional notebook, the V6j even though it has dedicated graphics, is a better professional system than the Z62f. I guess it comes down to how much they want to spend to begin with and also, you have to consider that a custom system takes time to build and test.... which is outside of their timetable.

Sorry everyone for not getting back. Weekend was very very busy

Here are some things I'm looking for if someone can steer me in the right direction

    Size - 14.1' widescreen
    Processor - dual core
    HD - 60 or higher (5400)
    Ram - 1 Gig
DVD rewriteable preferred could deal with CD-RW/DVD
Decent graphics but not a major concern
Light weight with long battery life
    Dependable

    Thanks for any suggestions!

The W7 looks just about perfect for my needs.

Any chance of that one being available anywhere?

Any ideas of where to look for one? I will be doing overnight shipping to ensure delivery to my office. I live in the USA in the Midwest.

    Thanks!

The W7j should already be out, check with the ASUS dealers' sites.

I ended up purchasing a HP nc6400 notebook.

I will have 30 days to use it to the max to determine if it is the right one or not. Thanks everyone for your help!

If it ends up not being the right one I may be back ;)

I'm really not sure if I did the right thing with purchasing the nc6400 or not. It is a business line so from what I understand the quality and support is better from HP than the consumer line of HP.

Due to my time frame I was not able to customize it the way I wanted so I may not be keeping the notebook. It will give me the time to give it a good try out though. Maybe I will be suprised and it will be okay for my needs.

Anyways thanks for the ideas and help. The HP should be here on Thursday.

You bought an HP? No offense but you're certainly not going to get an "aww that's alright" from me..... Your needs aren't that great, but you did want something better..... I personally don't think you went in the right direction, but it shouldn't give you a problem.

But for your basic needs, anything really would have worked. If at some point you want something better and you have an extra day or two, look into an Asus and you'll never go back.
