I am really stuck here. I'm stuck on who to buy from and which laptop to purchase. I'm looking at GenTechpc, Powernotebooks, and bioTechpc.

First, the laptop. I'm looking to lug a computer around for work, but I also want to play games while at home. Main uses are gaming, photoshop, and staying connected to work servers at all times.

Second, the supplier. One company better than the other?

There is a nice price difference between the two, so what am I missing?

The C90 has a decently weaker graphics card because it is gddr2 instead of ddr3. But it has a faster processor. I chose the c90 because of future gpu upgrades and yes because for me there was an over 200 dollar different price difference so I opted for the c90. It is a beautiful machine with and great performance and with a gpu upgrade it will be unstoppable. The g1 is a beast too and they are both great machines. Its really a matter of your own preference.

Like he said, the DDR3 memory in the G1s is significantly stronger than the DDR2 that currently comes with the C90. However, I can tell you right now that I'm playing all current games (Oblivion, Supreme Commander, etc) and ripping through them at high settings with no difficulty. I don't regret my purchase at all...I've been able to spend the $400 I saved by going with the C90 over the G1 on a bunch of nice accessories like a great headset, LoJack, speakers, etc etc.

I agree with forerunner, Both are awsome machines depending on your style, and what applications you run will be the Discriminator. If your more into gaming, or that style of things the G1s will suite you, If you want a notebook that is a bit more refined, and a cutting edge procesor, but still a fully capable gaming rig then the C90s will suite. what it really comes down to is what do you want more from your laptop, FPS, or CPU-speed. I have both and am completely happy with both, I have my favoite but I dont' want to bias your Decision. Read the full reviews to get there problems, both have some minor problems,

*as far as supplier, I would stick with either GENTECHPC, or BTOTECH.com
    * The price diffenence is due to the Stock C90s, with upgrades the c90s will be Significantly higher

just pick the one that suites you best. Good luck and enjoy your new notebook

I was also deciding between the C90s and the G1.
From what I've heard there are some problems here and there and compatibility issues with the C90s. I still bought one even though I live in Spain
and it is hard for me to return it. The G1 will be the better game machine for now due to GDDR3 but for current games the C90s is more than enough and by the time games will get more demanding there is always the option of future upgrades for the C90. The price difference between the two mainly lies in graphics memory GDDR3 vs GDDR2 and the type of processor. Mobile processors are more expensive than their desktop counterparts. I chose the C90 mainly because of its upgradability and great price.

    C90 Advantages
    - Faster processor and FSB
    - overclocking ability
    - upgradability
    - performance / price ratio
    - bigger choice of parts

    G1 advantages
    - much better battery life
    - faster graphics card
    - less compatibility issues

    Conclusion:
The G1 is like a nice and expensive top of the line Armani suit and the
C90 is like wearing stretchy pants. Sure the suit looks better for now but in a year or so when you have gained some weight over christmas I prefer my strechy pants because the suit just won't fit anymore.

Ended up getting the C90 from GenTech. How easy, in the future, will it be to upgrade the graphics card?

everybody hopes so ... at least to a card with ddr3 memory (drools over the image of a 8600gt 512mb ddr3 card)

Edit -> btw if you plan on taking it to work the the c90 is a better choice since the G1S will look kinda out of place with the whole gamer look

True but in the world we live in, who are we kidding we will all be buying new Laptops in less than 2 years anyways because GDDR100 will be out, and 8core Processors, and 1 Terabyte 2.5 harddrives, so get what you want now, because the by time you wear out that suite, it will be time to get a new one.

    *or BUY BOTH....
