Almost tried all drivers, including original asus ones. None of them seem to work. Please someone post a working atheros/attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet driver.

Not sure why it didn't work for you or what OS you are trying to install, I guess you are trying to install on XP and you can try this driver:

Attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller driver for XP

Lately there are loads of problems with this driver.
    http://www.google.com/search?source...GIH_enBG265BG265&q=atheros+L1+ethernet+driver
    Vista crashes, no connection etc.
    Im using Vista Ultimate SP1.
Thanks im gonna try it right now.

    *Update*
    Not working again. No connection.
What would be your next step?

This driving me nuts!!! Im so pissed off right now. Asus or atheros provides a driver which is unfinished/broken/unstabe.

I tried almost every driver out there, searced google for hours same problem no proper solution yet.

I did a clean install of Vista, installed Ultimate, all the drivers neccessary from the F3 Driver Disk, the problem still continues!!!
Almost every other owner of this laptop has the same problem.

if u ar using xp u can just install the internet driver right from the driver cd that come with the F3SV. Somehow they got the XP NIC driver and the camera driver in it. and both work fine im using it

    Hi,

I had a very similar problem with my new ASUS pro31sc notebook, which I believe is pretty much the same as an F3sc and probably also similar to your sv.

The L1 driver on the ASUS F3sc website - version 2.4.7.4 - simply didn't work for me, and I also got very long boot times when the network card was enabled. Trying to reset the network card as suggested by Vista (disable, then re-enable) resulted in a system freeze as soon as I hit "disable".

HOWEVER just for a laugh I tried the 2.4.7.10 drivers that are supplied for the (integrated?) atheros L1 that comes with the ASUS M3A motherboard ( here: http://support.asus.com/download/download_item.aspx?model=M3A&product=1&type=drivers&SLanguage=en-us ) and it WORKS FINE for me on my notebook.

You have to hold your nerve for a while because the installation appears to freeze, but it comes through in the end.

I don't know why this updated driver isn't made available on the notebook pages.

I just fixed my Asus F3Sr notebook by updating to the latest bios v209. I wasted more than 10 hours checking the internet for solutions and finally got this fixed. Forgot to say that I just re-install it with XPand found this problem. Before that on Vista and Linux are both working all right. I think that is IRQ or hardware conflict which XP do not know how to deal with it ;)

I also have an Asus PRO31SC Laptop, M/B version F3SC, running Vista Home Premium, which also had the same problem. Had a lot of problems with the network not coming back after putting the laptop to sleep, and freezing while loading CRCDISK.SYS on startup, until eventually the Atheros L1 gigabit network card wouldn't show up at all in device manager, and also wouldn't show up running off the Ubuntu 7.10 LiveCD. Basically the LAN card was invisible to every operating system I tried.

BTW the wireless network would work all the time throughout these problems.

It seems that when you do run Vista and experience the freezing, it can stuff up the PCI bus enough to still be stuffed even after a reboot. You have to unplug the power and physically remove the battery to clear it.

The way I fixed it was:

    1. disconnected power cable and battery to reset cmos or whatever
    2. restarted in safe mode and go to device manager and uninstall and delete the network card and whatever drivers it was using (originally 2.4.7.8 I think). You have to do this first thing after removing the battery for the PCI bus not to get stuffed again by using the dodgy Vista driver.
    3. restarted in normal mode, ignored the 'windows needs to find a driver for this network card' dialog, then ran the Attansic 2.4.7.11 driver install setup file I had downloaded from http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/241429/attansic-l1-gigabit-ethernet-1000-driver-2.4.7.11-windows-free-download.html
    4. ignored the program compatibility wizard's complaints
    5. now it shows up as "Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller #2" in the device manager, and seems to be working fine!!

In the Driver tab in the properties page for the Network Card, it says:

    Driver Provider: Atheros
    Driver Date: 20/12/2007
    Driver Version: 2.4.7.11
Digital Signer: microsoft windows hardware compatibility publisher

I'm not too happy with Asus releasing an obviously dodgy network card in their laptop. I've spent days on this and many users have reported the same problem, and still no updated driver on their site. Do they do any testing or are we meant to do their beta testing for them??

I Habe also big problems with the athenos L1 Gigabit Ethernet driver on my ASUS g2Sg.
    I Found the problem.
It ist not the driver from the Ethernet Adapter, but from the chipset driver version.
After istalled the newest Intel Chipset Driver (From Intel web site), the Ethernet Adapter works fine :)
I hope this infos can help you

That is very helpful, thank you fhau, I have been having some bsod's dealing with memory, but not ram (3 loops of memtest allll night with 0 errors for both dimms) so I will check this chipset driver dl.

Edit: I just checked and by chipset, do you mean the media acceleration driver? That is the only driver I could find under chipsets for the laptop chipsets.
