Can someone who has brought an Asus please either show me a picture or describe the free carry case that comes with it. I really hope its not one of those backpack ones. Cheers.

No it's just a classic cloth made one (apparently Water-proof)

I have to say I really like my bag. Its decently padded, has enough pockets for what I want, but isn't too bulky.

Also it looks nice. Best thing is it doesn't look like a laptop bag (which in my books is an advertisment to muggers, that is a laptop bag screaming out the fact there is a laptop in the bag). Also the buckles look cool.

The one I got back when ASUS NA still provided it was a full Targus 'ASUS Branded' messenger bag, which was an awesome bag. It was large and had tons of pockets and space left for books, etc.

Shame they stopped giving them out.

I like the bag i got with my w3j here in sweden even if its pretty small, the notebook(+power things) and some papers and maybee a book is what it can take. Only bad thing is that the buckle is a bit noise but i can live with that.

If you are intersted i can take som pictures of it when i have time.

From experience, my Z63A (ie: barebones version of the W3A) came with a nice cloth bag made specifically for ASUS (buckles are metal painted black with a nice ASUS logo engraved on it). It's like an over-the-shoulder bag with a separator in the middle which separates the laptop from the accessories. The separator itself has a zipper which you can put other stuff in. On the non-notebook side, there is also a net which can hold pens and pads has enough space to carry accessories and cables. Extremely nice to the touch and nice to carry.

One of my friends has a V6V. I think it's the same bag, since the V6V is only about one inch bigger and with the Z63A in it, there's still plenty of space.

Meanwhile, my boss has a Z71V and it came with a different style bag, though I can't remember if it was cloth or a cheap leather looking bag.

Also, I recently bought a Z96JS. I think it's somewhat similar to the bag my boss had with his unit, but I'm a bit disappointed with the bag, since it looks like some generic fake-leather bag that folds open about 30 degrees with a strap. It can do the same things as the other bag, but it doesn't have as nice or elegant of a design -- simply put, it feels like a cheap business tote. :( It doesn't any of that nice cushiony material the other one had or nice shiny buckles or a dual compartment. I'm guessing it has something to do with the Z63A being the OEM W3A which they sold as Ensemble.

EDIT: My bad, the Z96JS one is more cloth than gloss on the outside. One side has a bit, but the other side is completely cloth.

I know it isn't quite the Asus bag, but if you just watch, you can get some good deals on bags. I just got a targus bag for $17 shipped instead of what would have been more than $45. Saving twice what you spend it good, and if you are buying a $1500 notebook, a one-hundredth of it on a bag is pretty worth it.

You'd want to buy one anyway - if you're traveling a lot and really want one that's top notch.

Think about it - they're basically throwing this in (or it's basically going to the bottom line on what you're paying for the laptop) - however you want to look at it...

They're going to give you something sufficient, but nothing better - I'm speaking in generals here but the bottom line is - if you're serious, you're going to want to do research on a proper bag (in terms of materials used, protection, and aesthetic appeal)

I wrote a short paragraph on and added a couple of pictures of the included ASUS laptop bag in my A6J review. And suffice to say it is not impressive at all, and like most of the folks here I went out to get a decent one myself (from MobileEdge).
