In the first place, its not the same issues as reported by the other guys =)
I bought this excellent piece of hardware around 1 month ago. Yesterday i was playing with the bios config (as i always does) and at some point - i believe it was after change some config called intel text boot or something like that - the notebook didn't came back =\
that means: when i turn it on, it's access the dvd drive, oled display is initialized with the default picture and text, the touch buttons are on, the light at touch pad is on, but when the CapsLock and Num lock icons turn on, they just turn off. No video signal, no screen blink.
The Express Gate still working: i can access the hard drives, the dvd drive, also usb drives, LAN and WAN, so, i still believing my notebook is not dead, just in a coma =)
As i bought it outside my country, there is no official Asus support at my country, so i need to to anything on this by myself.
I already try to disassemble it to look for the MoBo battery to try to clean the CMOS (reset the bios,, this kind of thing). Also the "force shutdown" paper clip switch as trigged. No success.
Guys, i need your help!
Thanks in advance and sorry by the typos =)

If expressgate works, that means you can POST, and shouldn't you be able to get back into the BIOS by hitting F2 immediately to reset to defaults? If not can you reboot from inside expressgate maybe to get it to show you the POST screen?

One of the best things about the current Asus laptops is Expressgate
Since expressgate is basically a separate OS, having that working means nothing is wrong with your hardware. In other words, you have a corrupted windows. I would suggest you to re-trace/un-do what you did in the BIOS first. If that doesn't help, use your restore disk and reinstall windows back to factory settings. -
Thanks by the replies dues! But you dont got it =)
@ALLurGroceries
ExpressGate works fine. But the post screen looks different from the "normal" (shorter). I can't F2 to setup and restore anything. Otherwise my problem should by trivial =) Also from inside it i can't boot the OS. (ie, occurs the same thing as i boot it normally w/out expressGate)
@David
It's not about the windows the boot sequence stuck at BIOS stage. Also, i use GRUB to dual boot linux and Windows. In true, i have no feedback by the screen, and also can't boot by the DVD. But you are right: thx by the ExpressGate, i'm pretty sure there is no hardware failure =)
In time, the notebook just turn on, blink the leds, and follows like it was rebooted: turn off the leds and start again. All this occurs in around 3-5 seconds. Also i can hear the DVD seek so it's really looks like been rebooted.
I'm still believing i "just" need to clean cmos using some jumper (but i can't find it) or by removing the battery (can't find either). No other g50 owner have disassembled it? Nobody know where is the battery? =)
I think i found it bellow the graphic board (oriented as back-top, main battery at top), but to reach it, i need to remove almost all parts of the notebook, ie, looks like im wrong coz, it's alot of work just to replace a battery.
thx! -

( as i still a newbie, the forum dun allow me to post links for external web sites. if you need, see by yourself the url, changing the 2-dots for : )
Notice i just unplug the battery for a while, Also, you don't need to remove all the top piece to just disconnect the battery.
To test it: put the main battery back and turn the notebook on. the leds turn on and off (the normal behavior: no blink) and stay off (ie, probably stop at BIOS screen saying the default config was loaded. but as dun have the screen to prove it =] ). then i turn it off and back on: YEAH! I heard the sound from the boot! i don't a screen: its working!
thx again! -

Awesome, thank you very much for the pics. Those will help if anyone runs into this same problem in the future!

Too bad the G50Vt doesn't have a CMOS reset hole/button. I've used the clear CMOS jumper on my desktop too many times

Hi all,
I am new here and I have the exact same problem. After changing a setting in the bios from "enhanced" to "raid". All I get is a black screen, dvd drive continues to re-read over and over, making a noise. I am about to remove the battery, although I am not exactly a professional at taking things apart, anything I should know? I have the disassemble guide open, the 4 pictures provided in this thread. Also I know this is an old topic, sorry for bringing it back up. -
