    Congrats vader!!

i cant wait to get mine in January!!!

Btw, does it run crysis at at least medium settings without lag? Ive been wondering about crysis for a while now, and from posts all ive seen are vague descriptions about the fact that it does run..but not at what settings the game runs at optimal level....

I got crysis and actually you can run it on high on some parts but when stuff gets intense I did notice slow downs. I brough down the shadows to medium and made some other changes. I left it at max resolution of 1680 by 1050. I just got warhead and will mess with it later today.

Yup, this lappy sure is a beast. Got gta iv for Christmas and apart from taking two hours to get it working, it's running textures medium, render quality highest, view distance 50/100, view detail 100/100, cars at 50/100 ( can max, but the traffic is insane) and full shaders at 16/16!
    I'm very impressed with it!

Hehe best computer of all time before next year.
Honestly, when I put down $2100 for my G1S, it was also the fastest 15.4" of its time.. now (1 year and 4 months later) it's like nothing.
    Have fun playing~ :)

I have a G1SN and am really happy with it but would definitely consider the G50VT for the future. However, I am looking for when the nehalem cpu and associated GPU's make their way into gaming laptops. I am also keeping an eye on the NVIDIA Ion Platform which could be really great for portable gaming in units the size of the N10J for example.

Bah... I've got the g50v (pulled the trigger too darn early) and the battery life is bad enough as it is. Barely lasts me a whole class.

Crysis runs fine on this amazing laptop :)

I can even get all medium settings at 1920x1080 res quite playable (connected to my 37 HDTV hehe  ). Usually you can manage All High except medium objects and medium shadows, and you can maintain near 30fps average.

Also: Try not to use DX9 as I have noticed a bug. Whenever I used a DX9 game (like ,forcing or choosing DX9 over DX10) My video card memory runs only at 300mhz instead of 800mhz. This severely cuts down performance. This is a powermizer issue and can be "fixed" by disabling powermizer, or by playing mostly on DX10. I don't know why this happens, and I have only spotted this on a select few games. This is not like the old "downclocking" issues, as it opens the game in 300mhz and never changes, unlike the downclocking where stutter and freezes occur before happening.

To check if you are having any memory speed issues, use rivaturner hardware monitor tool, because GPU-Z lies about your speeds. I noticed my fps were too low in crysis a couple of times (around 19 avg, vs the usual 30ish avg on the exact same scene) and GPU-Z reported the 800mhz speed, but riva tuner helped me see my memory was actually at 300mhz.

7811 can beat asus because it has 9800 GTS not GS.... but gateway is cheapr but impossible to find and sh1tty support....

BUT asus is pretty good for less than $2000

It may be able to beat the G50VT in gaming, but at what cost? The 9800GTS can't push 1900x1200 as well as the 9800m GS pushes 1680x1050. Plus the build quality of the 7811 sucks (So I've heard) and Asus gives away one year accidental warrenty. For the price the GW is perfect, but for someone who is willing to spend ~$1400 no problem I would recommend the G50VT-X2

the laptop is great nodout about it

but the problem is that there is a flex in the plastic bar under the screen....

    it gets scrached easily...

also i have a really minor flex on the right side of it on the orange bar....

other than that its really powerful!!

Got mine about 4 days ago...got held up by weather issues. Haven't had much of a chance to really put it through the paces (thinking about doing a full fledged review at some point). It has the 207 BIOS and I don't think it has the keyboard lag issue because I've been using it to do some serious notetaking over the last few days. There does seem to be a little keyboard flex near the upper right area since some keys make a popping sound when struck hard. I'll post more when I get home and play with it properly.

For a $1000 the G50Vt-A1 is just... [fill in the blank] I mean, a notebook with a 2.494GHz C2D [cause who doesn't run the OC when gaming] and 9800m power is $1500+ territory everywhere else.

    *bows down*

@thegreatsquare, why don't you OC when gaming? That's the point of it.

    No

I have yet to see one that has it at all..

They have the spot for it and the port but no tuner.

I have had 3 G50vt-a2 and on G50v-a2... No tuner... (one of the G50vt was an RMA exchange) Had keyboard lag issue, they swapped and low and behold the new one they gave me does it to.. So I guess its not a simple hardware issue as I thought.

My dads started to do also. Works fine without touchpad drivers though, haha.

Anyway if anyone finds what tuner will go in this bad boy please post because would love to have it... Asus got to make things hard, just sell us the tuner!!

I have also upgraded my wireless from a intel 5100 to 5300... Laptop has third antenna wire inside. Wireless upgrade was only about $20 :)
