It gets hot, but there are very few problems with overheating. The GPU does run hotter than the comparable Sager, and the fan keeps a steady, warm breeze coming from the left side of the notebook when gaming.

The X3A appears to be the same as the XA1 with Win 7 installed. The XA1 is a great machine. It does run hot, but I have had no problems with it playing Batman AA for hours at nearly maxed out settings at 1920x1080.

$1250 is a great price, I paid $1299 about 8 weeks ago for the XA1. However, consider the G51j. For about $200 more you get an additional 320GB drive, DDR3 instead of DDR2 and the new Core i7 quad core CPU, plus the backpack and mouse. If I had the choice today, I'd definitely go for the G51j.

    Good shopping,
    Ira

My g51vx can get hot when really pushed. You just have to monitor it and don't go overboard. I use a notebook cooler when gaming which really helps.

A demanding game like Crysis can push it but my machine runs it just fine (a bit hot) with the cooler. I just would not put all settings at max in a game like Crysis for a long time. Other games it quite fine.

The only time I hear any noise is when the fan kicks in at full blast in an intense game. It is noticeable but not too loud.
