I have an a8jp, which has an x1700 gfx card. For some reason it runs counterstrike source and games in general at extremely low frame rates. Sometimes I can solve this by pulling the power plug out and back in. I do not know why it does this, and I've checked all my high performance settings and they look alright. Does anyone know how to make my gfx card work to its full potential when it's plugged in?

    GPU properties.
XP: rightclick desktop, properties, settings, advanced, GPU tab
    Subtab:
    Nvidia: it's called PowerMizer
    ATI: it's called PowerPlay
Make sure it's on high performance when plugged in.

If you don't get the option, make sure you are using proper GPU drivers. I suggest trying the latest version of the drivers posted on support.asus.com for your model.

Also make sure your ACPI drivers (called "ATK..." on the download pages) are up to date.

Yeah, you need to figure out by yourself how to get to the GPU properties page. Other than that, it's the same.
