Hi all, this is my first post here, though ive been reading these forums for years.Great place, just signed up today because i could use some help.
I am a Member over at Overclock.net and they highly recomended posting in this Asus forum for help..

I have an Asus K53e i bought in Sept from BB for around 400 (display+reward points brought it down) With the money i saved i put in an OCZ Vertex 3 120gb SSD and upgraded the ram to 8gb..It has the I5-2410m running win 7 pro x64

This week,i decided to purchase an I7-2670qm from Ebay which i am praying works out in this..Does anyone see any reason it wouldnt? After searching,i couldnt find anyone that had done this exact upgrade.

So yes, after purchasing it,i am posting to see if it will work :D

More than that,my main concern is that i cannot find a video/pdf instruction on how to open the notebook to get to the cpu..Ive disassembled many laptop before. The only link i could find for a guide was Megaupload, and anyone that reads the news knows their servers were shut down....

    1. Can anyone advise me on where/how to find a guide of some sort?
    2. Does anyone have experience with this?

I have a strong feeling from what i've seen, that i wont need to disassemble the screen to do this..From what i saw, they took only the backplate off to get to the mainboard. But it wasnt the exact model.

I started to do this, but quickly realized i was in a tad over my head.

Thank you,and thank you for having me here.Great place.

Thank you,its much appreciated. What about the other thing? Is there some sort of compatibilty forum,to check if i can put an i7 in a k53E???? It came with an I5

Ok i went ahead and installed the I7 2670qm where the i5 used to b e. The Laptop recognized, booted and installed software right away! Its Really Fast! And The heat isnt too bad at all!!!
I am having some minor issues though. The main thing,is when i reran the windows 7 performance assessment the processor speed rating actually lowered! From like 6.9 to 6.1 and i hear from others, this cpu makes people get a 7.7 or 7.6 Btw i have a vertex 3 ssd and 8gb ram installed.

I just updated to the newest bios, but i am wondering if i need a bios update for a quad core as opposed to the bios i currently have for the dual core i5..

In task manager its showing 8 threads though...

Any advise? Should i look for a similar bios but for a Quad core Sandybridge?

The last thing i wanted to ask was, about a benchmark tool. The reason i want one is because i got this new cpu off ebay and spent quite a bit and i want to make sure this has all the oem functionalities it SHOULD have, because im afraid its like an engineering sample or something...Just want to make sure it isnt.

By the way,i broke a key off the keyboard during the teardown, can someone recommend a place to get an inexpensive replacement keyboard for this? Thanks

Being a noob i could really use someone with experience to tell me if this looks

    A. like an OEM I7-2670qm (because i bought it on ebay and am not sure)

    B. If these Benchmarks look correct for this processor...

Here is the link for the OEM specs for the New I7-2670qm i just installed
    Intel® Core? i7-2670QM Processor (6M Cache, 2.20 GHz))

Here is the link to the laptop i just put the I7-2670qm into, which originally had an I5-2410m in it
Asus K53E-B1 Specs - Laptops - CNET Reviews

    C. If anyone maybe can point me what to do next and also tell me if you see that this chip is doing all the stuff an OEM version is supposed to (i want to make sure its not an engineering sample)

I will be posting my cpu-z report and the benchmark from SiSoftware Sandra BELOW

Here is the link to my Cpuz while running prime95
    http://www.filedropper.com/jacoblaptop

Please ,if you cannot help, could someone point me to someone who understands all of this stuff?

    Finally here is the benchmark...

If you want to check if it is an OEM or QS/ES version, use CPU-Z, it will tell you right away.

I recently got an Asus K53E-BBR14 Laptop PC and I ordered more ram to max it out to 8GB, my next step is the cpu and im going for the same one i7 but I dont know the socket type. I found one on ebay going for $200

    SR02N Intel Core i7-2670QM 6M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz FF8062701065500 0675901062718 | eBay

last question, what kind of graphics would you recommend upgrading it to? if any? im not a hardcore gamer, i will mostly use it for playing dvd's, music, and a few games here and there.

hope to hear from you soon, thanks :D
