Hi there! I have owned a G74SX for almost a year now, and overall I love it. However, for the last few months, the paint on my S key has been chipping. I have never had this happen before, so it's a bit confusing for me. I didn't think much of it at first since it wasn't that noticeable. But now, it's gotten worse. Even my D key is starting to chip (and possibly even W) as seen in the picture below:

Is this a common issue for the laptop's keys? Would I be better off replacing them? The keys themselves don't have issues, and it just seems to be a cosmetic flaw. It is still a bit bothersome though.
If I did resort to getting new keys, where would be the best place to buy them? I have also never replaced keys before, so I am not sure what I would need to do.

    Thanks!

just found this post and if it's true, you would have to replace the entire laptop's upper case that the keyboard is mounted to. read post #15!!!! and just pay $9 a key or just deal with it.
sorry for the bad answer.... unless you want tear every wire and screw loose in the laptop then find a used on on ebay and take the chance that you can swap the keys with out doing damage to something or buy new keys $9 each but then you will know the will fit.

i've seen a site that sells individual keys.... they just pop off and pop back on with a bit of pressure. but at $9 a key cap,

after doing some research i found this LINK and it looks like it's almost a total disassemble of the entire laptop to get to the keyboard rivets... not downing your laptop or anything but that has to be the crappiest design i've seen yet, and i've been working on laptops for 20+ yrs.

that key replacement site may have better answers for you, but i don't know if that keyboard is even a standard design that allows the user to pop off the key cap by placing something under the key and pulling it off. i wouldn't even try it till i got more info... google this for more info. asus g74sx keyboard replacement

Ouch! I would not want to take the whole thing apart just for one key. I do hope they can be removed just by popping them off. I am under the impression that they can, although I am afraid to without confirmation. :(
Are there any keyboard covers designed specifically for this laptop? I figure I could at least protect it from any MORE wear. I have been looking off and on since I got the laptop, but have yet to find anything for it.
