    Hello,

my asus m50vn after 1 and 1/2 years of service started freezing sometimes with black screens. When it freezes the lcd brightness buttons are still active, hd led is active but no keyboard no mouse no display activity.

I'm not sure whether it's a gpu or motherboard problem and wanted your help.

At the beginning they were happening once a month on boot (the screen would stay black) until recently they became more frequent up to once every day during normal use (not just at boot time). A couple of times the screen became corrupted during normal use and sometimes it freezes (no black screen). Sometimes before it freezes the trackpad mousepointer becomes sluggish for a second.

I've still got three months warranty but have updated the harddisk and RAM and operating system and was wondering if I could have troubles at the asus repair centres for it.

THanks for your help, much appreciated!
