Hi everyone, I recently bought a new m50sv and now just 3 weeks later the lcd is extremely dark all of a sudden to the point where I just aobut can't see anything on it when I turn the notebook on. This really came out of nowhere and the day before it was working fine. At first the left side of the screen was fuzzy and I just moved the lcd screen a little and then it became fine, but I noticed the ambient light sensor stopped working, and after shutting the computer down, the next time I turned it on it is now extremely dark. So anyone have any idea whats wrong with it?

Have you tried disabling the ambient light sensor by pressing Fn + A?

    Definitely try that first.

If the sensor is not the problem, then I suspect the LCD coax cable (because "the left side of the screen was fuzzy" a while ago). Either that, or the inverter, or the backlight. :)

You'll have to open your screen bezel and the keyboard bezel to access the cables, inverter etc. I have a guide in my sig, but only do it if you're brave enough, otherwise, sending it in to Asus isn't such a bad idea either since they are pretty swift with notebook repairs (assuming you're in the US or Canada) ;)
