Vista sucks.
some of examples:
1. Watching video and the screen goes, "BLEAH!!!!" while I have headphones on bringing me to near seizure.
2. The time it takes to unzip a 1MB file, I could order a pizza, walk and pick it up, come back, and it would still be unzipping.
3. What is Windows Defender!?!?
Now to the real point. . . .How do I get XP Pro SP2 on this machine and have it still function properly? I called ASUS and they told me, "we do not make XP drivers for the laptop." I replied, "you realize Vista is a piece of **** right?" They reply, "that is your opinion sir." I tell them, "In this particular situation, my opinion is correct!!"
I hang up the phone and guess what? I still have VISTA on my machine. I'd take it back to McDonald's but they don't accept refunds.
Any help would be appreciated!
I'm out!

In the time you spent making that post you could have solved 2 of those problems. The first one, if your explanation wasn't so retarded, maybe someone could have helped you with that.

My Vista experience on my U6 has been horrible but I said I will give it a shot...for the 3rd time. Regarding drivers, check the Asus website or try looking for moded ones. I agree, Vista is like Chlamydia

1. no idea what "bleah" refers to..
2. Vista SP1 ?
3. I would disable windows defender too.
it ain't that bad man. -
It does suck, just in slightly different ways that XP sucks. If you can't find XP drivers, you could always try Ubuntu Linux, it runs great on the M50 series.

There are many, many discussions on whether Vista sucks or not, is it better than XP, I even have my own (strong) opinion on it. But it wasn't helpful to structure your post around that statement.
If you had taken the time to check the Info Booth, you would have discovered that there actually is a link to an XP install guide for your particular laptop: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3298529#post3298529 -
thanks for the link.
i like doing it.
