I have 3 different MCE remotes ( Dell Express card remote, Harmony remote set for mce and default mce remote that came with its own IR reciever). I cannot gt any of them to work with my new ASUS G60VX !! I have tried updating drivers to no avail. I also tested the remotes on three difernt media centers, a laptop and two desk tops and the remotes work fine. Is this happening to anyone else? And has anyone fixed this?

I too wanted a media remote so I just got a bluetooth one. Works awesome and much improved range/coverage over an IR one.

My model is an interlink expresscard bluetooth remote. Charges in the expresscard slot, takes a second to connect and then it's super responsive. Pretty awesome, works through a wall or two since it's bluetooth.

Oh look here's one on ebay now:

Check the startup programs to see if any of the other remotes have software running in the background. Try the MCE remote/receiver once ensuring nothing else is running.

When setting up a MCE remote on my desktop I found that ATI IR software was running (via the startup folder) which was interfering with the receiver. Once I removed it from the startup folder it worked.

thanks for the responses. I have a dell express card remote already so I want to get it working, but if I fail thanks for the bluetooth option

As for other IR programs there is nothing in the start up folder at all and I just did a fresh install of the laptop and the issue remains :( good thought though. any other ideas out there?

further info the dell remote is out. It only works with dell IR receivers so I guess I need to look into that Bluetooth one more. Does it stick out from the laptop at all when its in the express card slot? Thanks

Yeah it does stick out, about a quarter inch. I didn't have bluetooth either so i had to get one of those micro USB bluetooth dongles. I have a BT mouse and remote now, which is pretty awesome.
